Michael Hyatt Blog : Why Religious Book Sales Are Down

I stopped in at my local Christian bookstore a couple of weeks ago. I was expecting to hear gloom and doom from the owner (it's a small independent store) but to my amazement, he said business was UP. And that he was thinking of opening another store in a nearby town that was losing its Christian bookstore. I came away greatly encouraged!

Wow, that is so powerful! And so true. I see this idealism and focus in the kids at my church. They are our future and it's a good one!

Michael Hyatt Blog : How to Better Manage Your Twitter Followers

I'll have to try this one! I've used PeopleBrowsr and TweetDeck. TweetDeck used to freeze all the time but they seem to have fixed that. I wish there were a decent app for the iPhone that let you manage groups. Haven't found one yet though.

Michael Hyatt Blog : Pictures from Our Trip to Ethiopia

What incredible pictures! I especially like the one of Gail with the little girl. The child's gap-toothed smile says it all! and love the one of Gail and Mary in those bright clothes. Watching your tweets and seeing this pictures is such a powerful reminder of how blessed we are and our responsibilities. We complain about things that really don't matter. Thanks for sharing, Mike1

Michael Hyatt Blog : Is Voicemail Dead?

I've noticed as well that my kids prefer to send an email or a text message. If I leave a voicemail on their phones, they just call me back without listening to it. And when I listen to voicemail, I usually just listen long enough to know the gist of the message then delete it and call them back.

Michael Hyatt Blog : That eBook Thing Will Never Catch On

Buggies and candles. Gasp! Mike, that's a GREAT idea! I'll just become Amish! A brilliant solution for me. Oh, er, wait. That would mean I'd have to give up my MacBook. :-) Okay, okay. I get that I'm an anachronism. Ahem, I'll be serious now. For me to fully convert, the books would have to be available at the library. I'm an avid library goer, though I realize it's shocking. I could never buy as many books as I read. Unless you want to instruct Ames to up my advance of course. :-) Hmm, should that be part of future negotiations?

Michael Hyatt Blog : Living in a Transparent World

We authors are always curious about how the tracking works. I've heard some outlets aren't counted at those places. True or false? Great post, Mike! This may help pubs and authors negotiate more realistic advances which will be beneficial to all of us!

What an amazingly transparent post! You've raised a wise daughter there, Mike & Gail. And one who loves you enough to call you on something important. This post was a great reminder of how people watch much more often than we realize. Meg was totally right!

Michael Hyatt Blog : The Digital Future Is Closer Than You Think

Um, Mike, this is MICROSOFT. Those things are not gong to be ready for market in 10 yrs if past performance is any indication. :-) Very impressive though! One thing they're not taking into consideration is that this kind of technology won't be embraced by everyone. Many of the older folks who distrust gadgetry won't even try anything this new and radical. Those of us who love gadgets are sure to try them. But radical change is going to take a while. Exciting stuff! I love this kind of thing. It will be interesting to see it all come about. That newspaper thing was cool!

Michael Hyatt Blog : What’s Holding You Back?

Great post, Mike, especially apt to compare her with David. I love how God looks on the heart! I am obsessed with Susan Boyle right now. I bet I've watched that video 15 -20 times. It was a reminder to me of the power of a dream and how God can take our talents and transform them into something wonderful. I'm working on a blog for tomorrow about her and can't stop thinking about this. I really identified with her because my first book was bought when I was almost Susan's age and I often feel just as "gobsmacked" as she said she is. LOL A verse that sustained me while seeking publication was "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I suspect that sustained Susan as well. She is a wonderful example of patience and waiting on the Lord's timing.

Michael Hyatt Blog : The Noticer Project: The Five People Who Have Had the Greatest Influence on Me

I just love this! It helps foster an attitude of gratitude. My top five are my husband and kids, my previous pastor of 17 years Steve Parks, my author "peeps" Kristin Billerbeck, Denise Hunter and Diann Hunt, my editor Ami McConnell, and my beloved grandmother Eileen Everroad who has been gone to glory now for 20 years but her advice still rings in my ears.
