No, everything I worked on utilized sound statistical methodologies, and not TA. These were sophisticated professional operations employing complex quantitative models.

This is the most depressing news I've heard in months. I would definitely pay a subscription if the show was to come back.

Hmm, ... looks kind of interesting and I even got a minor attribution link out of it for the D * T concept. ;)

That's really cool! My original graph really wasn't intended to be mathematically accurate because the relative importance of D and T is so context specific. It was merely meant as a conceptual tool and rough approximation. But I'm really happy to see that it stimulated enough of a conversation that people might want to try to improve on it. Very cool.

Sure, I'll definitely put something together. I've been getting a number of emails asking about it anyway, so I might as well. It can double as my stock email response on the subject. ;)

I've actually been thinking of writing a post called "How to Bootstrap an Algorithmic Trading Operation." I'm also considering writing one called "Notes on Predicting the Market with Neural Networks". I just wonder if there would be enough interest that it would be worth spending the time. Hmmm.

For some reason I struggled with writing this post and so I kind of just threw up my hands and cut it short. If I had really finished it, I would have explored in more detail why D=0 and T=0, won't get you anywhere. If you talk about what you're interested in, but haven't demonstrated any effort or progress, then you're just a dreamer or worse, a bulllshi*tter. On the other hand, if you actually do work hard and create something of value, but don't do a very good job of telling the world about your work, then you're going to be ignored and relegated to obscurity. Doing as much as possible of both with some kind of reasonable balance is in my view your best bet at realizing success, expected or unexpected.
