All the refugees are legal immigrants, paying taxes, getting jobs and getting a college education when possible. The Bosnian immigrants that I have met are some of the hardest working and helpful people in the area. Freeloaders (whose parents were on welfare and were born here, that now pop out kids and party with the welfare and cash assistance they were brought up on & taught to get by manipulating the system) are the problem, not hard-working and honest people who came here to avoid death-squads. Go back 5 or 10 generations in your own family tree, it's unlikely in the extreme that you won't find your own family immigrated from Europe just like the people you are figuratively venting your spleen on. They are learning to be the researchers, engineers & scientists our state and country need to remain competitive with the two up-and-coming technological world leaders (China & India). Since that time the price of unleaded gas alone has increased 120%. Social security increases are tied to inflation, but for some reason a 120% increase in the cost of something that affects the prices of everything else in the economy doesn't count as inflation, at least in the mind of whoever it is that decides national inflation rate. That person or board or whatever, has said that since 2007 there has been either zero percent or negative inflation, meaning prices of every day items such as groceries, fuel, rent etc. should have either stayed the same or dropped. So yeah, people who rely on Social Security to keep from starving are going to want an increase.
