If there are going to be 400,000 'mass' tests per day, and there are as few as 1% false positives, then there would be 4,000 'new' cases per day, way ahead of the fall to 1,000 cases per day which is the maximum allowed to let lockdown be run down. And that would be if there were no real positive cases at all!

No need for a panty liner, you can use an old bra.
In that case, use the left cup, otherwise you walk around looking like a right tit.

Losing the 'g' on the end of 'ing' is a local accent peculiar to those brought up in the Medway towns, Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham. etc, which is where Ms. P. came from. My grandmother had it the same, nothing wring with it, in fact rather charming!.

I don't think the govt could have done anything differently.

They did not know from the science until Friday that the change in the virus was the cause of the increased infectionality,, cases were falling in the North and it would have been premature to mess up everyone's Christmas until they had this evidence.

Most days since March Labour spokesmen have recommended tightening restrictions. If they had had their way the nation by now would be totally bankrupt. Like ms Nandy they can always have a choice of previous pro-tightening statements to refer to.

Let's all just recognise that when the facts change, then the policy may have to change, and what was right a couple of weeks ago may now be completely wrong as a way to continue.

Opposition spokesmen have the benefit of hindsight.

A reduction in foreign aid would not make the Chancellor unpopular. On the contrary, he would be more popular than ever if he cut back on shovelling our taxpayers' money into the greedy pockets and Swiss Bank accounts of tyrants who create misery and havoc all over the less developed world.

Might be a better idea if this course could be run by actual business people with proven successes in delivering projects correctly, at or below cost, and on time. What practical experience IPA or Said business school in taking this kind of responsibility themselves?

The more money you give people towards buying their own homes, the more house prices will go up, rendering housing increasingly unaffordable. Waste of money and completely self-defeating.

The Laffer curve would surely work at its most effective on inheritance tax. I am sure that if we doubled the threshold and reduced the rate to say 15%, as well as getting rid of most of the exemptions, it would not not be more than a year or two before revenue jumped dramatically. A great many lawyers and tax consultants would end up with little to do, another excellent by-product of such a change. Opinion polls suggest that IHT is the most unpopular of all taxes, and it does not exist in Australia. Let it be slashed.

A few quangos are essential but I suspect that if you put Conservatives on a great many of the more nebulous ones, they would soon be angling to get them closed down?

Would this matter?

What JP38 says is easy enough to write with the benefit of hindsight, but part of the fault lies with the electoral system for leaders, and the cowardice of MPs and cabinet in not getting her out when they had the opportunity.
