StarkSilverCreek - All Things West Coast : LAX and Motorola Droid: Google Places Directory, Aloqa apps

The Droid is slightly bulky, but I don't mind it. It weighs about an ounce more than the iPhone, which doesn't sound like much, however, it is noticeable. Still, I like having slider keyboard, the large display and metal/glass construction. BTW Al - it's a Motorola phone! HTC makes some nice Android phones too (Hero on Sprint, Eris on Verizon).

StarkSilverCreek - All Things West Coast : Motorola Droid goes Baja

Skype is great on PCs. The Android version, however, runs differently and requires dialing a local phone number. Odd! Defeats the purpose. I had less luck today with free wi-fi spots. They're out there. Just need to memorize them all!

Yes, don't tell Loni. Then again, I think she may already know - since her BB is on the fritz here, she's been all too eager to grab my Droid.

StarkSilverCreek - All Things West Coast : Follow the Baja adventure, plus Moto Droid on the road

You're right. No Verizon coverage in Loreto. I should have known. Loni's BB on AT&T has worked fine in past but now her phone seems kaput.

Yes it's slick. Works perfectly. Also, today, I noticed the Facebook notifications cause the indicator light to flash blue, instead of green (for email, calls). Nice touch.

StarkSilverCreek - All Things West Coast : Motorola Droid: Reviews and best information sources

Hey Paul, your experience with Verizon customer experience is identical to what I had in-store when I bought the phone. Fast, knowledgeable and friendly. What a refreshing change! Yes Gmail syncing was a breeze. Another bonus of working in the "cloud." I didn't even bother having my old BB stuff transferred over since most of it was in gmail, calendar, docs, etc.

StarkSilverCreek - All Things West Coast : Motorola Droid: More early thoughts

I hear the HTC Sense UI virtual keyboards are better than stock Android found on Droid. Not sure. I wish the phone weighed about an oz. lighter. But it does have a solid feel.

That is odd. I can confirm that Gmail does work on both Verizon or wifi connection. The virtual keyboard are good. I really like the on the fly auto-correction. Agree on physical keyboard, I'm still getting used to it. If I can't part of me thinks that I'd be better off with Eris... not sure though.

I will take the fall for this one... I couldn't resist. Still, came out pretty well. PS - sorry I think Brad Pitt is still with Angelina Jolie. That makes us both disappointed. Also, why are we talking about this on SC?

StarkSilverCreek - All Things West Coast : Time to upgrade to a smartphone: BlackBerry, iPhone or Android?

Hey Graham! Don't think you can go wrong with the 3GS. I just hope the network in Canada is better than AT&T here. I can't even make basic calls a lot of the time, and often get bumped off EDGE to GPS where I can't access my email or data. And this is... 2009?!
