It seems like the standards (especially the males) are more aggressive. I am kind of surprised he bit you though. Our little Kira chews on us and barks a LOT when playing, but doesn't break the skin. And yes, they can bark like they are 10 times bigger than they are! Ours howls too when she hears sirens, which is really cute and funny to us, but I wonder if the sirens scare her? Her teeth are definitely very destructive, but hopefully that will subside once she is an adult. So far we haven't had any trouble with other dogs; she even got along fine with the neighbor's Pit Bull. She does, however, seem to recognize and "prefer" other Dachshunds. She warms up to them and plays with them instantly as if she's known them forever. With other dogs she is shy for a few minutes. Hopefully it will be a very long time (or never) that she will need a wheelchair, but I definitely appreciate the offer!
