Atomic Toasters : Cover Ups

so, if I stay here in Indiana... I should be relatively safe? I never would have guessed that. However, that may explain the amount of people that want to leave this state (including me... eventually)... "something, something, ....most humans ... deathwish... something"

Atomic Toasters : SX-70 Sunday

having worked in stores with 1 hour photo labs. I can honestly say that they don't *always* keep a copy of nude pictures... just like... 90+% of the time... maybe 95+%... okay.. it was pretty much always... we had a photo album in the chemical room with the prints, also- name, phone number, and date developed. One of my favorite things that we did was to take pictures of one of my photo-lab working friends after an extended party night--we didn't write on him--but we did put random things (like glow in the dark squeaky toys, game controllers, etc.) on/around him/in his hands and then had him develop the roll of film a couple of days later. Surprise! you were passed out... gave him the double set of prints for fun.

Atomic Toasters : Startdown: Specialization

so.. random weird story, my ex was a frequent crochet/knitter. She uses a row counter that hangs on a lanyard around her neck. I used to call it her "score keeper" and it would tell you which breast was in the lead at any given moment in time. so yeah... made me laugh..

Atomic Toasters : A Nerdy Weekend Filled With Success and Resounding Failure

one other thing that i have found helpful for a wireless network that you want to keep others off of is to use a mac address white-list. This will only allow the devices that are entered by in to the router to gain permission/receive an IP address and keep everyone else off, even if they figure out your wireless key.

Atomic Toasters : What Ever Became of...Popcorn?

I still own and use a prestolite air popper from the late now nineties. It was a graduation gift. I was told by the giver, "this should be a great way to make friends, everyone loves popcorn!" To which I responded "and if I don't make friends, at least I have popcorn" in a very sarcastic tone. The couple that have me the thing didn't pick up on my tone and responded with a very enthusiastic "RIGHT!". Turns out it was a great way to piss off everyone in my wing of the dorm (all three floors) because it generally overloaded the circuit and popped the breaker before it popped any corn.

Ha! Doors... that's funny, there were empty hinges on every doorway except for the exterior doorways... no idea where they went... presumably sold/used as scrap wood... house was built on 1953, we were doing the work in 2004.. the owner bought it "no doors/as is"

Atomic Toasters : What Ever Became of...Linoleum

While I remember a number of houses I grew up in having linoleum floors (and a number of apartments I lived in after I moved out) and selling rolled vinyl flooring while I worked at mynards (menard's).... my father, a former flooring master (carpet, hardwood, tile, linoleum) was a much bigger fan of the vinyl peel and stick 12" square tiles as they are much easier to replace and pull up completely, to say nothing of the ease of trim to fit, as long as you planned a bit in advance. I've also pulled up kitchen carpet laid over linoleum, and had to pull that up, sometimes a couple of layers, to get down to flooring..... nasty sh*t.... give me pull up tiles with proper sealing any day

didn't realize they are still available... that's awesome.. I loved the ones I dealt with in mid to late 90s town cows... they were awesome at removing the bad parts of parking outside. I also always loved the "ooh, that car has it" identifiable orange tint to the windscreen....

Atomic Toasters : Something Better: In-Glass Defrosters

Ford had a rapid windscreen de-icer option on some of its vehicles from the 80s and 90s (for sure, not sure if they went past that)...I'm not sure why this couldn't be done for a rear windscreen just as easily***EDIT: although if I had read the rest of that article, it might have answered that question. Still there has been 30 years since it was initially introduced to improve/perfect the system.*** here's a little info-- The first paragraph of the Wikipedia article on Ford's Quickclear "First seen on the 1985 Ford Scorpio/Granada Mk.III in Europe and the Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable in the U.S., the system uses a mesh of very thin heating wires, or a silver/zinc oxide coated film embedded between two layers of windscreen glass. The overall effect when operative was defogging & defrosting of the windscreen at a very high rate. Landrover (UK) also fitted a similar screen to their Discovery range in the early 1990s some of which were imported to Australia undetected by authorities because at that stage, were not legal in any state. Owing to the high current draw, the system is engineered to operate only when the engine is running, and normally switches off after 10 minutes of operation. The metallic content of the glass has been shown to degrade the performance of certain windshield-mounted accessories, such as GPS navigators, telephone antennas and radar detectors." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quickclear

I was filling out my profile for a employment placement firm recently, for each skill, there was a drop down box. I was able to enter 15 years experience with work email (that was the highest number on the menu) but the thing only went up to five years for fax machine. I was thoroughly confused.

merry-go-rounds are fun and all, but my favourite park had a "push-me, pull-you, we spin faster the harder we push on the handles" kinda thing. I haven't been able to find a pic.... but picture a 10 foot (corner to corner) x shape. a seat at the end of each arm. and a rocker handle (hinged on the central x beam) that allows you to push and pull with both your hands and feet. the push and pull handles and pegs are all connected to a planetary gear set at the center. you could spin soooooooo fast... even if you were the lonely kid that no pne wanted to play with I'll keep looking and will post a pic if I can find one
