A great lesson from the Great Communicator:

I know there are two sides to every story, but check this out. I think we can expect more of this kind of treatment from our government in the future...especially considering the now famous "right wing extremist" stance by Homeland Security.

Here are two articles well worth reading. Don't buy into the fear people...just practice common sense. Remember this, just as flies don't cause garbage, healthy people rarely get sick.

Sorry, I shouldn't have tried to make a joke there. People will die from this and that is tragic. I apologize for being flip.

The perfect wag the dog scenario...or in this case, wag the pig.

Except the cure used by the body itself...naturally produced antibodies.

More flu facts:
Reports claim that "Influenza kills 30,000 to 40,000 Americans every year." (3) That is simply not the truth. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the number of people who die of the flu are a fraction of that. Here is what the CDC says:

In 2002: 753 died of the flu (4)
In 2001: 267 died of the flu (5)
In 2000: 2,175 died of the flu (6)
In 1999: 1,685 died of the flu (7)

Those who die of the flu are mostly frail, sickly, weak, malnourished and unhealthy to begin with. For people in reasonably good health, dying from the flu is, in fact, very rare - research even shows the flu shot does not affect mortality of elderly people. In conclusion - the flu shot is dangerous and useless.

Exactly, and interestingly enough, what sort of medical system does Mexico have...socialized...and how have they handled these swine flu cases...apparently not very well.

"A CDC spokesman, Mr. Curtis Allen told Insight Magazine last year,

“There are a couple problems with determining the number of deaths related to the flu because most people don't die from influenza - they die from complications of influenza - so the numbers [of deaths] are based on mathematical formulas. We don't know exactly how many people get the flu each year because it's not a reportable disease and most physicians don't do the test [nasal swab] to indicate whether [the symptoms are caused by] influenza.”

Hence, the oft-repeated “36,000 deaths nationwide” is nothing more than a computer-generated, ominous-sounding guesstimate, rather than an actual number. "

Overmedication/incorrect medication...not much different in my opinion. The truth remains that the use of antibiotics resulted in the survival and propogation of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics. (Note: the bacteria did not "develop" resistance, they were already gentically resistant so they survived the antibiotics and produced more generations of resistant organisms.)

If you are saying 360,000 die each year, you must be talking world-wide. I am saying 32,000 (36,000 according to the reference below) in the US...and again, those numbers are dubious.

I didn't know that 1918 was only 25 years ago...but in response, thank you for pointing out about MRSA, which is another result of over action by the medical establishment.

The human body has something called an immune system, and as is most often the case, people who will die from the flu are already immunocompromised. (and I seriously doubt your 400,000 projection...it seems each year someone tries to frighten us with the newest pandemic, how many millions were projected to die from bird flu, hanta virus, ebola, west nile, etc.). Have more faith in your own immune system, when we try to alter it artificially with drugs and many vaccines, we actually weaken ourselves.

Don't believe the numbers of how many people die from the flu each year. We're told that it kills somewhere around 32,000 each year in the US, but those numbers include flu deaths combined with pneumonia which accounts for over 90% of that total. Always look deeper into the stats reported by the CDC.
