when I applied to get my permit, I remember a part about needing a license to even purchase one from a friend. To own a hand gun or even purchase one in a store or off a independent seller you need to have verification that you can legally obtain a handgun in the state of Iowa. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that is right

I'm not a so called republican, and I thought it was a clever way to gain interest in what they are doing. I about fell out of my chair when I saw they are holding a BBQ for animal rights. My personal beliefs are based that everybody should have the right to eat animals. They are good when cooked, and even better when covered in BBQ.

If you vote no they will raise our property taxes. That is Corbets plan B, that is why he will not talk about it. We can either allow out of town visitors help pay with the sales tax, or we (Cedar Rapidians) can all pay more property tax. Either way the City is going to get the money for their projects. As much as I would love to vote no, I don't want the citizens of Cedar Rapids to have to foot the entire bill for these projects when we can have visitors help pay as well. This just seems like a lose, lose situation.

They will never go after the people letting people park in their yards because no one would be able to go to the game. But they too are vendors and accepting money for a service which violates city code. Yards are not parking lots, and I'm sure it might violate neighbor hood regulations as well. This whole thing is about the University trying to get money from the vendors, or to move them over on the stadium property to charge and regulate what they want. I will be at the golf course selling hotdogs out of the trunk of my car.

it is 'House bill 176' It strips all the voting rights of college students who are not residents of the town in which they go to school. It has nothing to do with voter IDs. Sorg has been quoted as saying that students were "transient inmates ... with a dearth of experience and a plethora of the easy self-confidence that only ignorance and inexperience can produce." He has argued that the bill will end "unfair domination of local elections by students." William O'Brien, the Republican New Hampshire state house speaker, was quoted in reference to college students at a recent Tea Party event saying, "voting as a liberal. That's what kids do. ... Students lack 'life experience,' and they just vote their feelings." I also read that they would like to raise the age to 23 but I am having problems locating it, since it was months ago when I read it.

If you are not properly trained and proficient with your weapon, it can easily be used against you. But I can understand where people would feel safer, and a few would be able to deter or even pop one of these people. I love to see citizens off bad guys, but the story rarely ends with good news.

I've been complaining about that same thing all day. They can't attack those people because nobody would be able to get to the game. They just want more money from vendors. they probably want them to move onto the stadium property so they can raise rates every year for the lease of an area.
