It is clear to me now that I have no representation in congress, or in Washington working on my behalf, or working for the benefit of this country. They seem to be working for greedy corporations, or looking out for their own personal gain. I no longer see any responsible adults watching out for my children’s future. So what can I do too slow down this machine that is bent on destroying the fabric of this nation? I’ve attended tea parties, wrote my congressman, made phone calls, pulled my hair out, and for what? Should I give up and put my head in the sand like so many of my fellow citizens? No I will hit them in the purse strings to coin a phrase; and I encourage you to do the same. This is my idea: any company, union, or group that supports these measures or bills will never again get any of my hard earned dollars. I will divulge my accounts of any holdings in bonds, stocks, or interest in any company that gets behind the President’s plans. If their willing to choose sides then so will I as will others. Please help me gather information on companies that are aggress in there contempt for this country just to help their bottom line. We need names and deeds committed, and we have to gather that information for letter drives and pickets. I know that it is difficult to invest your money and time, but what are you willing to do for your country? Federal 11%, State 3% Social Security 6.2 and 6.2 employer contribution which is me 12.4%, Medicare 1.45% and 1.45% that’s 2.9% me again, FUTA 6.2% until $7,000., Workmans Comp 9.2%, Property Tax $1,800 or 3% of my income, Sales Tax 7.5% on anything I buy, .19 cents a gallon Fuel Tax not quite 1% of my income each year, 11% Alcohol, $2 a pack of cigarettes, $250 a year per car for Tags and Emission testing, then we have environmental impact fees for changing your oil, tires, trash, utilities, phone (50%), TV, to build a house or anything for that matter 3%, Excise Tax, Local and County tax, I have my own business so there’s Bonds, License Fees, Huge Taxes, ect… My point is that I’m patriotic for paying this, so I should be afforded the right to protest out of control spending by politicians. If they’re going to waste my money on welfare checks to the irresponsible then maybe they should know how I feel. Morally these people are children of god no better, or worse than me in the eyes of the creator. I believe that the administration realizes that to increase the economic growth of this country they must inflate the population growth. We need more people to pay into social security, taxes, buy retail, autos, and houses. It may work in the short term, but sooner or later when we run out of work it will cause an even bigger strain on government resources. You blame the bankers for this crisis, but what about the people who bought houses that they could not afford, or that ran up huge debt on their credit cards; they are never mentioned in your equation. What about the home builders with their own lending arms inflating home prices, and putting people in bad mortgages? The appraisers, real estate brokers, and Federal Reserve that helped flushed the market with money. And most importantly the congress who pressured the banks into lending money to bad borrowers. As if owning a car or a house is a right in this country. Greed is at the heart of this mess. How much money did the government collect in taxes from the sale of these items? And the payroll taxes from those employed from these industries. Plain and simple we over built, and over spent the last few years because nobody wanted to miss out on the gold rush. Each business willing to pay a small fee to purchase a 912 sign would have to comply with the rules as follows. One the company did not receive any government bailout or TARP funds. Second they will no longer lobby or contribute to government campaigns of any official. And last that they pledge as a responsible business to do no harm to their communities in which they reside. We could debate the rules and commitments by which the businesses are committed to by the principles set by the 912ers. The fees collect by the purchase of the window sign would be used to pay for the cost of creating the signs, and the remainder of the money to lobby congress for term limits, and charity. I know that I’m being hypocritical about not allowing businesses to lobby congress, and then advocating that we lobby congress. So I know my idea is just a work in progress, but I’m sure we could refine it into something much better.
