Baller 21 : Sports Organization Grants // Back Your Block

Larry, Nike hasn't done this program since 2009. Haven't seen any updates on their websites or why they stopped. Reconfiguring of funds probably. Just heard they are pulling main sponsorship of US Open, surfing.

Baller 21 : Sports Ministry Conferences

Hello Maranda:

I have emailed with you before in regards to the CSRM Summit. I am also the Founder and Executive Director of Baller Athletics. I would like to come to the next Summit, and if my schedule permits, I will be there as a participant and or vendor.

I will think through some more on topics that would be helpful to have at the conference and reply again.

Thanks for stopping by the website.

I would like more interaction online with sports ministers (blogging, video, material sharing, etc.). It's one of the reasons I started my site.

Blessing

Shea, thanks for stopping by. I found you via twitter and saw that you were into sports ministry and Duke. Had to follow. I would really like to go and connect at CSRM but not sure I can this year. If I do, I will connect.

Baller 21 : The Unauthorized Story of Nike

I'll have to let you read the book the next time I'm out west. They have the book in paper back on the link I posted. There are so many more stories, I'll have to post some soon. The background story of the Dassler brothers that founded Adidas and then Puma is a great read as well.

Baller 21 : Tiger Woods, Athletes, and Atonement

@Jens. Thanks for your comments. Tiger was raised with some type of emphasis in Buddhism and Christianity. Sounds like he is preferring to turn back to some Buddhist practices. Christianity is tough and a crazy option for many. But God and his crazy love are in control of all things. I pray his love will shine upon Tiger and transform his core being.

Michael Hyatt Blog : Behind the Scenes of My Redesigned Blog

I like the theme and redesign of the blog, especially the featured slider. I do agree that the redesign of a theme, like with Woo Themes, saves on time and cost and yet doesn't lack in quality of design. Now if the designer would only do they same for more of us on a smaller platform. ;)

Baller 21 : Help me pick a Sneaker Design

Kim,

Thanks for the reply. Not a problem, being an old post. I had fun with that contest.
Software programs for the design? I used Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) software to design the shoes. Gimp is free and available for Mac or PC (make sure you download the right version if interested). Other options are Photoshop (Illustrator) but it comes with a costly price tag (Though they have student discounts at times and it has many great features and different packages for the long term designer).

There are others. What is needed is a Image and Vector manipulation software. The shoes I designed were in a file format that was created by the organization contest and I opened it in Gimp and added my color and design. You can open and save multiple formats in the software.

Hope that was helpful. I wish your 14 year old the best.

Baller 21 : Pastor-Athlete // C.J. Mahaney

Martha, C.J. Mahaney preached this message again on Sunday? I recommended this message, which is on DVD now, on a Featured post listed above (Don't Waste Your Sports). I will be including this DVD with a player package in a High School basketball league I'm starting. Can you explain, specifically, how many have the tendency to prematurely proceed to practical application and specific ways to glorify God in sports? What balance are you suggesting? Thanks for your comments.
