Gringo,

I am running for a state representative office. It is Iowa House District 8. You are correct that there are five congressional districts at the federal level.

Thanks for everyone's support here. My grassroots campaign is starting to pickup some momentum. I have been greeted with enthusiasm by many of the voters in the district, while feeling the heat from the R's.

I encourage everyone to stay involved and choose your candidates wisely. The power truly is held by "We the People."

Thanks for everyone's support here and for checking out my website. The campaign is in the infant stages but growing. I have been out in my district talking to the voters and have been greeted with enthusiasm.

In regards to Operation Swing Vote, I have done more than change to Independent. I am running for the Iowa House of Representatives as an Independent. I could use the support of all Independents.

Let's get back to legislating based on the Constitution.

I am proud to announce my candidacy as a state representative for the Iowa House, District 8. I have changed my affiliation from Republican to Independent. Like all of you, I am tired of the unresponsiveness to "We the People" from both parties. My slogan is: An Independent Choice to Represent Your Voice. Please check out my web page at: http://www.electshaw2010.com/

I thank each and one of you for what you are doing to save our Republic.

The news story did interview the organizers and participants and it was favorable. Our objection was them seeking comment from the Democrat State Party Chair, and then airing his dismissive comments. This made it partisan.

My wife and I attended the Tea Party on the Iowa Capitol grounds yesterday. The local Des Moines station, WHO TV, had a news story on it. Even though it was a non-partisan event, WHO had Iowa Democrat Party Chair Michael Kiernan provide comments on the Tea Party. Among other things, he said (paraphrased) that the Tea Parties were "Rush Limbaugh style hitman politics."

We wrote a letter of complaint to him. Since when are we "hitmen" to exercise our First Amendment rights to free speech, peaceable assembly and redress of grievences? We told him that this is the smugness and arrogance that we are protesting against.

The good news is that we must be striking a nerve to make him respond like that!
