So I watched this movie around 6 months ago. It really surprised me, it's amazing. The pacing is slow, which is perfect for the story being told. There aren't enough movies that get you as emotionally involved with the characters as Wolf Children. The little struggles throughout the movie help them grow and the small victories and fun moments make you smile. It's nice that despite cinema being so saturated with drugs, debauchery, killing, etc, a simple story can be told with great execution.

Definitely canon,the story is about them traveling together and falling in love. It's labeled romance genre for that reason.
