The only entities who should support US policy in Afghanistan is Taliban-al-Qaeda. Those animals get 20% of the Pashto heroin trade that Bush wouldn't touch, and Obama won't mention. Two months after the Taliban fell, Afghanistan's Justice minister announced that Sharia would be the law of the country. For 2 months, people had been free to purchase Bollywood product from India in the open, rather than underground. It is back underground. Bush chose to detach Taliban from al-Qaeda. It was not his policy to beat them in war; he wanted them to renounce jihad and participate in sham democracy. Prior to this indulgence, there were ZERO Heroin factories in Afghanistan. Now there are dozens, and NATO hasn't touched a single factory, even though these put $600,000,000 into the pockets of those who murder Americans. Again, NATO is fighting an Orwellian War-War. American magnanimity towards the Pashtos, has spilled into Pakistan where neo-Talibanism thrives.
