Big Government : Janet Napolitano Announces New Walmart Cameras For DHS

Right, but how is that any different than anything that could happen before this? An ad campaign telling people to be vigilant around the holidays for anyone performing suspicious activities doesn't seem very nefarious. If this agreement has some kind of clause where wal-mart has to record everyone as they watch the psa, then send the video of their reaction to homeland security, I'll be a lot more worried. But, as far as I can tell, this is nothing more than an ad campaign.

Not to seem stupid, but there isn't any actual camera, right? It's a video recording played back on the check-out screen as far as I can tell. Wal-Mart already does advertisements for other things on their little screens throughout the store, how is this any different from one of the psa's they play on TV? I'm genuinely confused by the backlash to this story. Didn't al-qaida just say they plan on the "death by 1000 cuts" strategy?

Big Government : State Government: GOP Take Record Legislative Chambers from Dems

I just wonder if anyone actually read this. Or did they all just assume it was a liberal trying to talk down the Republican victories? I, for one, agree that we can't just think that things are fixed now that we have Republicans in office. We really do need people who will fight for the constitution and the free market in control of our government, not just those who give lip service to those principles.

Yeah, I say, let's do everything we all agree on. A constructive truce where we get the economics done and leave the social for later. Then we can all rip each other's hearts out about gay marriage and marijuana. At least there will still be an America to be ravaged by social evils if we get the economic issues in order.

I consider myself a libertarian, but I have no love for the Libertarian party. They put all of their focus on the issues that for some reason they think they will get votes from (pot, gay marriage, war, etc.) and don't even mention fiscal issues half the time. My local Libertarian party candidate's platform actually was in favor of subsidies for wind power. He was approved by the Texas Libertarian Party. That's how I knew I'd have to vote Republican until something changes. Hopefully, the Republicans change and I don't feel half sick to my stomach the next time I vote for one.

Social conservatives usually have the word of god behind them, so they feel no need to consider how you think or what your freedoms actually are. Your freedoms mean nothing if they violate scripture.

Your posts are better campaign ads than any marketing team in the country could come up with. I'm sure he'd be willing to pay most of his presidential salary to keep the people like you on the internet. When he can say, "the right-wing thinks I'm trying to move this country towards socialism... but they also think I'm from Kenya! Hahaha!" it just helps make legitimate arguments seem less believable since they are now associated with lunatics. Please, keep these kind of posts on World Net Daily. At least then we can say, "Oh, those are just the crazies," instead of having to defend ourselves against your stupidity.

Big Journalism : I Got My Correction Thanks to the The New York Times -- Now Who's Next?

Here's the thing: if you want to argue that "opinion journalists" must follow the same rules as normal journalists, then there won't be such thing as an opinion journalist anymore. And, on top of all of that, if you want to argue that any written argument in favor of a particular candidate is a campaign advertisement if it is disseminated to a wide audience, wouldn't Breitbart have to shut down all of the Big- sites the two weeks before the next election? I can understand being mad at the writers and not reading their columns anymore, but taking them to court is so far overboard it's hard to take the idea seriously.

Austin News, Weather, Sports, Traffic | KXAN.com : Students held at gunpoint in robbery | KXAN.com

That's not true at all. There is an entire lease that lays out exactly what the complex is responsible for. One of the selling points of the complex was "security gates" which during the year magically morphed into "privacy gates". If the management didn't waste the 12000 dollars spent a year by everyone living at Jefferson maybe things wouldn't be so shitty. Look at the difference in quality between the on campus dorms and jefferson. Sure, in Jefferson you get more space, but the dorms cost less when you take into account food and utilities. Do you see people breaking into the dorms with guns? Could jefferson afford to put someone at each door every night to make sure they were invited by a resident? Definitely. I wouldn't mind there not being chik-fil-a at the front office every week if it meant my rent was actually being used to keep where I live in decent condition.

Big Government : House Panel Charges Rangel with Ethics Misdeeds

Wow, an idiot. You see, equating a conservative who wanted to conserve the institution of monarchy during the American revolution with the modern Conservative movement, which is mainly concerned with conserving the constitution, is a very uniquely liberal use of the English language. You see, the constitution destroyed the institution of monarchy in the United States. It also acknowledged a number of liberties and rights for individuals while limiting the power of the state and majorities over those same individuals. Liberals are generally the ones who believe that either any simple majority has complete control over any minority (businessmen, the rich, etc.) or that a select few technocrats should have control over every aspect of everyone's lives in the interest of efficiency. Either one is a sick, perverted view of the world that is completely contrary to what the American Revolution was all about.
