Really? On the basis of the six sentences in this article, or do you know more about this case and/or the judge? If so, please share. I think a number of readers would be interested to know more facts about this case and the judge.

You may want to check into filing a FOIA request with the court to learn more about the case. I'm not sure, but would assume that the case is public record. You can always ask, anyway.

It is not wise to say that all rape crimes should be judged the same across the board, no matter the gender of the perpetrator or what the situation. That is why we have courts -- to judge the situation and determine just punishment. Rape is a sadly common abuse of power. And gender matters because men hold much more power in the U.S. than women. They constitute slightly less that 50% of the population but about 85% of congressional law makers and the vast majority of Fortune 500 CEOs, for instance. Men also tend to be physically stronger than women. And they rape more. Those are general facts. Who knows what the facts were of this particular situation -- we were not there, nor in the courtroom. One can only hope there was not forcible violence and injury involved, which would make a big difference to me if I had to make a choice about sentencing in a case such as this. Would it make a difference to you? Let's remember, this six-sentence article only states SOME of the facts.
