The Keystone pipeline would merely facilitate this, it wouldn't help local prices. Likewise, any extra drilling would only produce oil which would be sold on the global market for profit, not for local relief. As long as the USA exports oil, then enough is being drilled. Yes, making more oil available on the world market has the possibility of lowering prices slightly, assuming that other countries or cartels don't cut production to make up for it, thusly keeping prices high. Honestly, something as important as one of our country's main sources of energy shouldn't be totally left to the "free market", for that puts profit before consequence, and the gamble is our economy.
