yup and those careless adults who happen to be parents probably need this reminder the most!

It is illegal to wear a red dress on Pearl Street too. Good point and all the more reason to protect them as best we can from making terrible choices with drugs, alcohol, vehicles, weapons, etc. They need our guidance and support well into their twenties!

"This is a two way street, keep your pills away from your kids and teach your kids that responsibility for their health is theirs and they shouldn't take it lightly." I AGREE!

Thank you for pointing out what I didn't intend to convey.

No one knows what happened here. Blame should not be directed toward anyone based on what we know right now. I was not my intention to blame parents, friends, etc. I also do believe that we can only do so much to educate and protect our children. They will make mistakes and sometimes those mistakes will be tragic. I pointed out the cognitive deficiencies of a 20 year old to further explain that we cannot assume that ALL young adults are equipped to make reasonable decisions. This is not to misdirect blame but to increase awareness that these poor decision making skills in young adults are very real. Combine that with drugs, vehicles, weapons.........most young men die by one of them.

Again - I believe that Alex is trying to point out something many people might not consider - that your medication may be used by another family member, friend, plumber, Realtor, handyman, etc. In fact, it is VERY common.

So sad. My condolences to his family and friends.

Tara - I completely disagree with your comment about not "locking up" drugs. I think the point Alex is trying to make is that we have an epidemic of prescription drug abuse and we need to keep our meds out of reach of those for whom they are not intended. Clearly you have no idea how prolific the problem is. Additionally, the human brain does not fully develop until well into the twenties. The inability to control impulses affecting safety at the age of 20 is well documented. Nice of you to blame the victim here.
