I recently heard about Pebble Mine. Pebble Mine is an open pit mine that a ( I believe a Canadian company) is trying to get permits for. It would be at the head waters of Bristel Bay in Alaska. It was said that 40% of the worlds salmon comes from Bristal Bay. The pollution that would be caused by the mine would destroy the salmon runs including the runs in Pacific NW rivers. My big question on that was... WHY and why kill our jobs to give permits to another country?? None of it makes any sense! Sorry to throw another issue into mix but since I have heard about that from the Trout Unlimited organization I have been looking into it and it sounds like a big deal too. Owned it two days before it was stolen from a movie theater. The police caught the thieves with the car. When she went to court the two thieves were sitting in the waiting room with her (2 large guys) and then were allowed to intimidate her in the court room as well (she had to give her name and address). After her testimony the judge looked at her and asked if she felt she sould receive restitution...when she said yes the judge looked at her and said they are just kids. Even at 18 she was not easily intimidated...looked back at the judge and said, I am just a kid too and I deserve restitution. She received 2- $11. checks for that. She had insurance of course...and there go our insurance rates. This is why it keeps happening!!
