Wilson being called a racist, by some, for shouting out 'you lie' to the president. To me, I thought it was an unfair label as there was no compelling evidence for such a charge. Yes, he made some shitty comments concerning the bi-racial daughter of Strum Thurman and advocated for the confederate flag in South Carolina. Both points have merits for racial insensitivity or just insensitivity. I think there is a line to be drawn when attaching racism. I really do not see evidence of people being called racists for opposing Obama on policy. If you would, point me to some examples of this so I can see where you are coming from. I think there is a racist faction which tries to discredit Obama's presidency. I think you see that in the birthers, those who believe Obama is a "secret muslim" and those who like to paint him as a radical, reparations seeking, community organizing black man. There is an obvious racial element for some who oppose Obama and we can not ignore that. However, I do not think that all opposition is derived from racist attitudes - not at all. I'd like to think that Obama will be successful in his administration and history will judge him based on his successes, not his race. I think people are going to tire of the rhetoric soon. I am seeing indications that people on both sides are starting to distance themselves from it now. Hopefully others will start to follow.
