If you can actually sit through her speech, you might also enjoy the hypocrisy of her whining about the intolerance of those she has come across. Sort of a pot meet kettle moment. (please forgive the current sad state of affairs which is my IntenseDebate reputation number, I pissed off some xtians who then felt the need to show their displeasure)

South Dakota Humanist : If At First You Don't Succeed

I am not so much sympathizing with the guy here but come on, 2 hours of being poked with the needle of death is a bit much even for scum like this guy and like the torturing of prisoners issue, I would like to think we are better than that. It also amazes me when reading the comments on the various stories regarding this just how hateful some people are. You'd almost think they were a bunch of godless heathens or something....Oh wait that would be me. And as an aside, the court has put a temporary hold on this execution and I have since discovered that this is the 3rd botched execution in Ohio in the last 3 years all because their technicians had issues finding veins to insert the needle. One took 2 hours to complete and the other took almost 90 minutes. Maybe it is time Ohio got better medical personnel as you would think being able to find a vein would be a somewhat important part of the job description for a lethal injection technician.

bw, please define "narrow view of the world". That would be biblical worldview, you know like the world is only 6500 years old, that we all originated from Adam and Eve, that the US is a Christian nation I could go on but I think you get the idea. Please feel free to believe what you wish, just don't expect or force others to do so as well

I never thought of that Dan as if true you would be the first Conservative Atheist I have ever come across but I doubt your worldview would be based on that biblical scriptures that help formulate many Christian Conservative worldviews. Conservatism is not the problem, the problem is when Conservatism or any political belief system gets entangled with fundamentalist religious views

If questioning the belief in something that has no basis in facts fits your definition of "all worked up" to you than I guess I will have to concede your point though my definition would be slightly different.

I can't speak for Communists but Atheist Liberals don't like the Bible because it is a work of fiction that Conservative Christians try to shove down our throats in order to justify their narrow worldview.

South Dakota Humanist : Come On Joe, I Can't Hear You!

Sorry Paula, GOP sites like Say Anything and Powerline posted this photo on 9/12 to support their attendance figures (The Wizbang link you provided was posted 2 days later) not some mean old democrat blogger. Powerline pulled the photo once it was outed and any finger pointing by the right going on now towards the other side is nothing more than an attempt to wipe the egg of their face for being duped.

South Dakota Humanist : So Who Should Be More Embarrassed?

Brian, Homophobia (from Greek homós: one and the same; phóbos: fear, phobia) is defined as an irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against homosexuality or homosexuals or individuals perceived to be homosexual Pretty much perfectly fits this pastor and his sheeple. And PS to your PS, the scroll bar is a function of your browser and not the site design so if you are having a problem I am guessing you are using an outdated browser, likely again a guess, IE 6

South Dakota Humanist : No Heath Care Reform For You!

Several problems with your comment P. Chirry. 1. Daschle is no longer an elected official from the state of South Dakota, Thune is. 2. Daschle has no vote in any legislation that might actually make it that far, Thune does so any contributions from the industry are relevant.

South Dakota Humanist : Healthcare Debate?

And it's a lot easier to discuss issues "openly and honestly" without the Speaker of the House suggesting that the opposition carries swastikas. I agree the opposition doesn't carry swastikas as Herseth-Sandlin's sister from a different mother suggests, they just paint them on the signs of Democratic Congress members' offices and depict Obama as Hitler on placards which definitely adds substance to the debate in between shouting matches don't you think? Seriously, I am still far from finished reading the bill as well (HR3200 that is) but besides being unable to find the "death squad" provision that Palin talks about or the taxpayer paid abortion clause which is the latest strawman argument, I am thoroughly unimpressed with what is actually in the bill because as you know if you listen the the "talking heads" on TV, those are all must haves for the Democrats. Sorry for the snark but trying to figure out the wheat from the chaff is getting increasingly more difficult. Hopefully some combination of this bill and the 4 other House bills and 1 in the Senate end up being be a step in the right direction if they ever see the light of day.

South Dakota Humanist : In The Name Of The Children

I think the issue is the same as I wrote about above. Be it nude statues, dna art, or even religious art on private grounds. The parents usually are the ones with the problem and the children are just convenient tools used to promote their ignorance or intolerance. The children don't usually develop these attitudes until spending much of their childhoods living with their parents...

Procrustes, I usually pick up on the satire and would have continued it on further with some other satirical example but for some reason, probably as you say the number of real occurrences of similar stories made this one easier to miss.

Atheist Revolution : Why You Should Have an Intense Debate Account

I used to think so as well but recently removed IntenseDebate from my blog because they do not handle trackbacks despite saying they do so on self hosted Wordpress blogs. Looking deeper it seems that I was not the only one with that issue and from what I can tell the IntenseDebate folks don't seem to worried about getting that feature working. I have since moved to Disqus. They have most if not all the features vjack mentioned plus they do trackbacks. Maybe not a deal breaker for many but when you are just starting out, any incentive to get other blogs to link to you is a benefit.

South Dakota Humanist : Yogi Better Watch Out!

John did you miss the stat I provided showing that National Parks (that is all parks ,not just here in catatonic South Dakota) already have some of the lowest crimes rates in the country? So please tell me how allowing people to carry loaded guns is going to help park officers whom you say are assaulted more than any other law enforcement officers, they can already carry? Doesn't this just make it easier for those doing the assaulting to bring in the tools of there trade so to speak?
