Breitbart.com : Science of man-made life can proceed: White House

Well considering no life has yet to be created, the need to regulate something that is still in development and research is ridiculous. Somethings do need regulations but not at the expense of preventing research because people are scared of the unknown. It reminds me of when scientists wanted to slam atoms together to try and create a black hole in a laboratory. Those that were scared tried to do everything possible to stop research because they were scared of the unknown. Well, now we know that the researchers were not stopped and to this day, we have no black holes sucking in the earth. Moral standards are defined mostly by religious beliefs which are rare in the scientific community. Scientists jobs are to push boundaries and research all things possible. Yes, we can try continue to regulate research before it has the ability to provide results but what good is that? I believe because Obama is linked to this story people are immediately quick to take sides in opposing his views and beliefs.

A straw man argument is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.[1] To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by substituting it with a superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition (the "straw man"), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position -- Wikipedia

Exactly! What is interesting is how many people that have commented on this article that have same beliefs in less regulations but are real quick to adopt more regulations for things that are controversial. It seems that the American people are playing politics more than politicians these days with double standards that fit within their personal beliefs. I agree. Stop the regulations across the board.

As much as I dislike Obama, this is one thing I can agree with...it isn't the governments job to regulate scientific discoveries. Many scientific advancements have been limited due to religious critics. Our country is not a manufacturing economy any longer and science and technological discoveries is one of our last hopes for our country. New frontiers will always be controversial. Besides, if America doesn't do it then our most gifted and talented scientists will leave the country to more hospitable countries to continue their controversial research. We have already forced out manufacturing, do we really want to force out innovations and scientific discoveries in controversial fields?

I see your point dannyboy. The freedom of religion in our country requires us to accept all religions. If this story were about a Christian being fired for wearing a necklace with a cross on it, how much would the comments in this article change. It is a clear double standard in America. When an apartment complex has rules that clearly states, "No flags can be displayed outdoors at anytime". Many people argue freedom of speech violation when they cannot hang the American flag. Yet, it is up to the person moving into the complex to agree to the terms of the complex before moving into an apartment. So, here is my point. The freedom's we have in America must be adhered to at all times. We must not discriminate against one person no matter how we judge them and a business should be able to enact policies that they feel are necessary. In the case of this girl, she and A&F both share responsibility. A&F should have never hired this girl if she could not follow dress code policy. However, this girl should have never taken the job knowing she will not remove her head scarf. Here is the gray area in this. If a company wanted to have a Muslim Free workforce, they could impose strict dress code policies that will target them and prevents them from being hired. Additionally, this can also be applied to stop hiring women. Imagine a dress code policy that states that no one can wear makeup in the workforce because men that wear makeup is unprofessional and some women have so much that it becomes distracting. Dress codes standards are in some ways an attack on freedom of speech, yet we overlook that all the time. Just remember there are lots of shades of gray. America will be a great nation again once we all accept this fact. If we continue to argue black and white, we will be to blame for the end of our great nation.

Breitbart.com : Top uniformed officer: Gay ban should be lifted

This is just the beginning to a much bigger problem. Gay Marriage. How can one gay soldier be married in one state that allows gay marriage and another soldier is not even allowed to be married in his home state? This will only open up a bigger can of worms. Does the Federal Government recognize gay marriage and do they give benefits to the spouse? This has Supreme Court written all over it.

At they say, "Republicans protect the rich and the Democrats protect the poor". So, is it in a Democrats interest to make poor people rich? I think not. They will lose their base and cease to have power. So, it is required that Democrats keep their base poor and dependent. If only the people they claim to help would realize that Democrats are only making them more dependent on govt.
