Not that this is anything new but Dan Hawkins is the worst coach in College football. Heck at this point I would think that half of the highschool coaches in Colorado are better than him. Ridiculous. He needs to be fired NOW

What makes you think that Hawkins could ever coach? Let alone forget how to... I think he was a product of having a strong foundation that was built by Koetter and when Hawk took over he still had a ton of the coaches. Hawk could win in that conference with the 2 and 3 star players because all of the other schools were getting 1 star and some 2 star players. The offensive mind has stayed the same at Boise for the last 8 years.

Daily Camera.com: : Boulder County Human Services must close $4.5M budget gap - Boulder Daily Camera

The unfortunate thing is poeple who are between 55 and 64 years old are the ones who will suffer the most from the lay off. The so called early retirement is a joke. 15,000 dollars is nothing when you consider they will have to spend around $500 -1000 for Cobra insurance. These people aren't eligible to draw on their retirements. Boulder County wants all of the eligible people to accept the early retirement or they will lay them off anyway. How about lay off all of the middle managment that essentially is wasting the Counties money?

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : Woelk: Good coaching more important than rankings - Buffzone

The simple fact of the matter is you need a good combination of high ranked kids and a coaching staff who can teach and get players to play well. Yeah, Cincinnati may not have had high ranking recruiting classes but you also have to look and see what conference they play in... It's not like the Big East is a strong conference right now. Also, Ohio is ia pretty srtong hot bed for high school football players. And Neill, there is a huge difference between 37, 40, 44 and 70 which is where CU is likely to end up. I will agree with you that stars are extremelly overrated but they are important. Teams who consistantly are in the top 25-30 will usually end up in the top 25-30 at the end of the year. Yeah Boise St is an exception, but you have to look at them as the Texas, USC, and Florida of the Non BCS schools. They have superior talent to every team they play in their conference. They go to a bowl and it's the biggest game of the year for them.. and for the Oklahoma's of the world, it's just another game. Both recruits and good coaching are important

Buffzone.com: CU sports from the Daily Camera : CU Buffs pick up three commitments - Buffzone

become starters because they were late blooomers. Bottom line is if you consistantly have higher rated recruits you will have a more athletic team who has a chance to win every game. If you recruit a bunch of 2 star guys then you end up with the likes of Iowa St and Baylor. Every year you hope to come up wiht a two star guy like Speedy or Dizon... sometimes you just get lucky or you see something other coaches don't

I think the fact that CU is going to finish between 65 and 70 in Scouts rankins and 11th in the big12 should be enough evidence that this recruiting class is lacking. while stars are not everything, it clearly has some truth to them. With the exception on ND everyteam who has top 25 recruiting class has been a consistant top 25 team every year... The only time CU has sniffed the top 25 was when they started out 3-0 after beating WV. We are not in a good situation with recruiting when we are in the bottom 5 as far as BCS conferences are concerned. With the exception of a few players who turn out to be gems, two star recruits are not going to compete for big 12 titles let alone BCS berths or a National Championship. Yes Hawk had a good class a few years ago but 2 of the 3 (Scott, Katoa) aren't on the team. Every year teams have invited walk ons who rarely contribute on the field. In some cases they

Spond isn't coming to Boulder. The munchie kid is going on a visit to Arizona this weekend and he could bolt. Look at our recruiting class and see what schools have offered scholarships to them. I would say only 4 kids have offers from BCS level conferences. So.... not looking so good.

Not every school has multi yr contracts for assistant coaches. I am sick of all of the excuses that we have... 2nd tier facilities, blah blah blah..... Look around the big 12... The only place that could rival Boulder is Austin. Every other city is awful. The kids don't want to play for this coach because he hasn't won, plain and simple. They don't have an offensive gameplan, no system.
