Buffbobby, read the paragraph above about how DaVaughn Thornton -- all stater in two sports, with several offers -- went to Boulder and was never played. I have a sinking feeling that he will be a standout at CSU Pueblo and we'll be wondering why he didn't look like that at Colorado. Will they play Sam Martin if he goes Buff? Who knows? Our recent history is littered with talented guys who just couldn't get any meaningful minutes. I'm hoping the new coaches will start with a clean slate, but I just don't know that our local kids get the same shot as anybody from 50 miles out of town.

I get what Bakhiatari is saying. A new coach comes in and tries to "break down" the players with intense workouts. He's been through this before, he wants to start learning how MacIntyre wants them to play, and prepare for the season. The team might not need this kind of life lesson a third time --- It's like having a new trainer at the gym who thinks he isn't doing the job well if you don't go home so sore you can't walk. It's not necessary. Make the spring HARD, make it count, but don't make it about this coach being tougher than the last two. Just prepare these guys to win some games.

Funny, how it looked to me this season was Jon Embre thought HE was a Buff. And he thought the guys he recruited were Buffs. But other guys, nah, they could move on. What gave him the right to decide who is a Buff for Life, anyway? Take a page out of the players's book, Mr. Embree. They are not speaking against the University the way you are. How embarrassing for all involved. Time to move on, nothing left to see here. Just a man who thought his past affiliation made up for his present inability.

Shouldn't the headline read SOME CU Buffs players disappointed to see Jon Embree fired? Because some of these guys are taking it in stride, didn't want to play another 1-11 season, and look forward to a new direction. SOME guys are wringing their hands, and SOME guys say it's just business.

Did Embree say that every kid who has officially visited here has committed? ---" Embree is proud of reporting that despite the results on the field this season, each recruit who has made an official visit to CU this fall has committed to be a part of the 2013 class. I'm saying that it's plenty of fodder for negative recruiting against CU that we cut players without letting them on the field to show what they could do. Not that we NEED more negative recruiting fodder, our record is probably enough. But if you're a Colorado kid with other offers, watch and learn. Klein doesn't have anything to do with Embree, but having Hawkins and son at the same time did not bode well for quarterback recruitment. Obviously, since we are struggling now. So, you think Derek McCartney should be a buff, based on bloodlines or based on ability? Interesting that CU was the only school to offer him a scholarship. Same with Stevie Joe Dorman, nephew of Koy Detmer. In his comments on LOI day, Embree said “He’s a guy nobody wanted but I’ll take him all day long. As far as who can kick, maybe you should look at the KO stats for the past few games. But facts often get in the way of a good argument. In general, I'm opposed to pulling scholarships. But hey, I'm not the coach of a 1-10 team. It's just interesting to see WHO was pulled and who is "safe."

all three were on scholarship. This move is about cleaning out Hawkins guys and replacing them with Embree guys. Guys like Maccartneys' grandson who comes in January. And Stevie Joe Dorman, whose uncles are friends of Embree. Both Grossnickle and Thornton were All-Colorado players. Let's hear the spin on trying to keep the state borders closed. I bet local HS coaches steer their players to schools who don't bench players and then pull their scholarships so the sons of friends and coaches can play. Oh, wait. That's why we don't have Collin Klein at CU.

the statement in the story above SAYS he told them they were cut in the summer. Decision wasn't about their play this year, it was about numbers all along. Then he gave them no playing time this season and used the reason the they weren't contributing. WHY weren't they contributing? Oh, right. Because Embree didn't play them. Ironic that the kid who isn't coming back was the only one who could kickoff into the endzone. Can't wait to see what amazing players he has lined up for these schollies. We'll probably win the NC next year, because all-freshmen teams do that so often.

yes, there should be improvement. It was like we went into the lockerroom saying "hey, we are only 3 pts behind, good for us." And ASU went into the lockerroom after being yelled at on the field and said "what do we have to adjust to WIN this game?" and did it. where are OUR halftime adjustments?
