Buckeye Commentary : What Did We Learn?

darrenju makes a lot of good points, and I agree that starting Bauserman and putting Pryor at WR will not happen this year. Now, maybe after the season is over and through spring practice, Tressel may re-evaluate the situation. He doesn't make kneejerk reactions based on one or even several games, but over a longer hall. You could see it in the transition from Zwick to Smith several years back. My doctor is an Oklahoma fan and we've talked about the Buckeyes an Sooners in that both really need to find a way to win a BCS game. Very frustrating to say the least.

Buckeye Commentary : What Did We Learn?

Tyrell Pryor is a true talent, but it comes from the running slant. In high school, he was a god, but in college, everyone is better, and it becomes a great leveler for all. He needs to work on the passing game, but right now he's thinking too much about that and becomes hesitant (read not comfortable). That's taking away from both sides of his game. I still think he'll progress, but it may not be pretty for awhile. Purdue was inspired and OSU was not yesterday and the result is what happens. I've been a longtime Buckeyes fan since 1967, and have seen many ups and downs. This game yesterday was one of those downs and my expectations for this year have been lowered considerably. Hope springs eternal, Go Bucks, right that ship quickly!

I know it's not technically correct (the seventeen is there, but not 5,7,5). It's still my thoughts on the game. Go Bucks!!! OH-IO

Buckeye Commentary : Oh The Weather Outside Is...

Thanks for the info Cassius... didn't know about the new Big Ten rule. They probably had a good reason, but I can't even guess what it would be. I'm not much for looking ahead, just play each team as they come (there's no more gimme's in college football... although Florida vs. Charlston Southern comes to mind. Go Bucks! Beat the Badgers!!

Buckeye Commentary : 3-Man Roundtable: Illinois

Several more upsets in the works this weekend so far. Illinois over OSU will NOT be one of them. Just let the players play and the Buckeyes will be fine today. Let's see who else, though, stumbles today ahead of Ohio State in the polls. Go Bucks! OH-IO!!

A whole lotta season left and everyone is getting into the meat of conference play, which always means, beating each other up. No time to throw in the towel, just play!

Buckeye Commentary : Cordle injured, Shugarts to start

Injuries are never something you look forward to, but something you need to be prepared for. Shuffling the O-Line is one of the toughest things any team has to do, although, you play the hand you're dealt. Good Luck to Shugarts... make the most of the opportunity. To Cordle, get well soon and return wherever the fit is right at the time. Go Bucks!! OH-IO!!

Buckeye Commentary : Time of your life

I had to watch the game on TV, 800 miles away, but the crowd did their thing, the players did their thing, and the coaches let everybody down. That's what hurts the worst. The Buckeyes had the talent and efoort to win this one. I don't want to just play with anyone in the country, I want to be able to beat anyone in the country! This is a teachable moment, not for the players, but for the coaches. Now go forward and get better from the experience.

Buckeye Commentary : What to do while you drink: Week 1

I think there were two points in the game that kept it way too close for comfort. Pryor was just hitting his rhythm, and for some reason, the coaches bring in Joe Bauserman and kill the momentum (first half). Instead of kicking a field goal on 4th and 2 to go up three scores (would have made it 32-14), they went for it and didn't make it and the very next play, Navy scores. Anyone who's seen Navy play the last 4 years can see that you don't take them lightly and the worst thing you can do is keep them close. As they always do, they show class and resolve and play for the entire 60 minutes. I respect Navy very much and the Buckeyes did play a bonafide competitor yesterday, which is more than I can say for Florida and Texas. As it turned out, the OSU vs. Navy game may have been one of the best in the country yesterday, including the before the game tribute to the Midshipmen. Still, for me, it was way to close for comfort . I hope Buckeye nation (and the coaches) live and learn from this one.

Buckeye Commentary : One new rule may look good

Scarlet vs. Blue, not a bad combination. Not sure if it makes much difference (it always helps when you have good players). Just ask Notre Dame when they pulled out the green. It only seemed to work to their favor when they had the better team on the field. Oh well, it'll help the "color" commentators!

Buckeye Commentary : Rodriguez v. Michigan

As a life-long Buckeyes fan, I hate to say this but it's true. A strong Michigan team is what both the Big 10 and OSU need to get better and shine brighter in the eyes country. You never better yourself by wishing misfortune on others. Go Bucks!!!

Buckeye Commentary : Hey Tress, Where Was the Fake Punt?

Trapasso was an excellent high school running back at Pickerington Central and could have played that position for many other schools in college. Luckily, he came to Ohio State and was a very reliable punter for several seasons. Remember, the punt is the most important play of any game!! Although, I would have liked more fake punts myself, I'm not the coach, so I don't second guess a very successful Jim Tressel.
