hey chardonney. there is nothing wrong with people wanting to memorialize others who stick their neck out for YOURS. these people who died absolutely did not think their lives were more important than others. in fact they sacrificed their lives to save other people's lives. something that should speak highly of the character of the kinds of people who do the line of work, knowing that they may trade their life for another...and as much as they don't want to die, they are willing to risk dying to save sorry skid stains on the underwear of society types like yourself.

my god, simple accident. Glad the kid is fine, but the mother doesn't deserve punishment for a simple accident. Lesson already learned. Just keep weapons out of reach until you can expose them when they are a little older and teach them the difference between what is and is not a toy.

which is why you kill them both for being on your property at almost 4 in the morning. this way there is only one witness statement that says you approached two men on your property at 4am and were met with threats of your own life. no jail time, self defense, and only one witness statement. Prove there weren't threats against my life then. given the circumstances that two burglars are on your property and uninvited at 4am i think you'd be within your rights.

i know someone who had his gun taken for "evidence pending an investigation." He now has been fighting to get his gun back for a year now with no luck. It will cost more time and money to get this gun back than it is worth. He just went and bought another one. It seems to me that law enforcement agencies keep these and sell them for revenue. If someone is deemed ok to have their gun back, why make it such a pain in the but to get it back?

it has nothing to do with that. i'm buying my coffee from a stand that endorses good looking women...i go there to look at them, not the other way around. I do understand that there are guys that try to make them strip clubs, and leave large tips in hopes for more than coffee. I leave the same tip that i do anywhere else, and i don't sit there with my tongue out drooling over them either. But i would rather be served coffee from a smoking hot young female in risque clothing than a guy or overweight and unattractive house wife...there isn't a single guy out there that would disagree which is why these stands flourish.

its not those women who are complaining though. its the fifty+ pounds overweight and now unattractive women who are complaining out of jealousy. there are some good looking cougars out there, theres even one that works at a stand like this near me! haha

KOMO - Seattle, WA : Policy forces firefighters to stand and watch as man drowns | Seattle News, Weather, Sports, Breakin

it's not only the wetsuit. it's the cost to keep all of the personnel up to date on their training. By law if there is a program such as water rescue, trench rescue, high/low angle rope rescue, etc. then there are minimum requirements to have these programs. it costs money to have the ongoing training to keep these people able to keep their certifications. Trust me, the firefighters wanted to go in, but their hands were tied. People should question what their tax dollars go towards. it isn't uncommon for these programs to suffer when there is an over staffed and overpaid administration and support staff. when the rubber meets the road i think anyone would agree they would like to see firefighters responding with the actual tools and training to perform their duties. You'd be surprised

I recall a call myself before i was a career firefighter when a couple firefighters in my dept. had to do the same exact thing at a lake in our area. a 19 year old drowned. these responders had no equipment or water rescue training to speak of due to no water rescue program. they were no better prepared for the situation than the citizens that were there watching this unfold before them. they felt horrible that they couldn't do anything for him. Not every Firefighter is automatically a trained "HERO." It takes money to have a program to buy equipment and provide training for these responders so that they can be your "HERO." when a program goes away due to budget cuts. so does the equipment. For anyone who has ever voted no for their fire departments, keep in mind that your hero's don't just continue to respond with the same equipment and personnel that it used to. When rescue programs and firefighters go away, so does the quality of your response. support your local fire department

I am a professional firefighter at a department with 2 lakes, 2 swift moving rivers, and a man made canal. due to our small budget there is not even a water rescue program in place and never has been. The only equipment to speak of is a disc with rope attatched to it that we can throw. we are not by policy allowed to do any other intervention then the water rescue area. only allowed to contact the county "dive team," by which by the time they arrive it is a recovery, not a rescue. for all of you armchair quarterbacks out there saying you would break policy even if it meant losing your jobs are idiots. To say that you would walk away from a career that you support your family and feed your children to save a suididal person is rediculous, especially in this economy. keep in mind that there are times in our careers where going against policy to do the right thing happens, but not at risk of our own lives or lives of our co-workers.
