your wait is over...you proved my point. For example, Sanford held his presser and removed himself instead of drawing it out for a month like Weiner did. Same goes for Craig. You missed the point...it went right over your head.

Why then are republican lawmakers shamed out of their jobs IMMEDIATELY when a scandal unfolds (Chris Lee, Mark Sanford) while democrat lawmakers spend weeks or months lying and using up taxpayer resources while they remain at their post? (Clinton, Weiner) I'm not saying this is the case EVERY time....but there does seem to be a pattern, no?

I'm not claiming the right does no wrong, just that the right holds themselves to a higher standard in general.

The left have no morals or sense of shame. Therefore, they will never remove themselves from a situation, even after being proven a liar, thief, or criminal. Only a very public outcry, bipartisan outcry, and media outcry would come close to forcing a narcissistic, self-righteous, "I can do no wrong" leftist out the door.
See: Clinton, Weiner, Rangel, OBAMA, etc.!

So (P)MSNBC will CONTRIBUTE to left-leaning media bias, but won't participate in a fictional depiction that calls them out for what they do. I am shocked...SHOCKED I say!!

Conservative: What we did was wrong...we got caught and we are shutting down this publication.
Liberal: I didn't do it. We were hacked. I was framed. I have nothing to admit. I can do no wrong.

The right and left both have rotten apples now and then, the only difference is that on the right, we pick them out. On the left, they stay in the basket and spoil the whole lot!

I don't think that deterrence is a use of the death penalty, only a benefit thereof.
And if you ONLY view it as a specific punishment for a specific crime, for a specific person, what happens if that person was wrongly convicted? Then a life was WASTED unless that execution served to DETER someone else of taking another life.

Until you begin to shift the cost AWAY from a third (or fourth) party, we will inch closer and closer to a nanny state and a cradle to grave society. I understand that there are legitimate people who use social welfare programs. However, entitlement programs are being controlled by people with ONE desire, and one desire only...to get re-elected. Therefore, there is ZERO incentive for creating realistic reforms. Everybody wants what they feel they are entitled too, unfortunately a sense of entitlement has become so skewed over the past 70 years that if people get what they think they deserve, all social programs will be bankrupt in about 10 years.

Limit Government, institute term limits, and shift the cost closer TO THE CONSUMER where it belongs! It's not our government's job to kiss our knee when we fall down and scrape it. We simply can't afford that much bureaucracy any more.

I have had this debate with myself many times and still am not sure of an answer. There are two questions that must be asked of ones self.
1) How many lives have been saved because the death penalty serves as a deterrent? and
2) How many innocent people have we wrongly executed?

of course, neither can be answered, but my personal belief is that the death penalty does more good than harm.
