If you aren't interested in your partner anymore, why can't you just leave? Last time I checked, you don't get sentenced to prison for breaking up or divorcing. Seriously, why did the guy have to put a hammer to her head? I guess that's easier than saying "I don't want to be with you anymore".

This is not the first time he failed in such a situation. He did the same thing at Novell, when Microsoft introduced native network connectivity not requiring Novell in Windows 95.
