I read this story yesterday. WTF? Thats almost all I have to say. Its just another example of how China is getting stronger and we are getting weak. Until our government can quit spending and running huge deficits we are the debtor. So, Step one GM gets our money, Step two Obama seizes control, Step three UAW takes concessions, Step four..... GM becomes Shanghaied by the new Socialists. Really, just ugh.

How about.. One fair tax. we cut all non-essential government programs, such as Everything that does not protect our life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. No more well-fare and basically everything else like that. Just provide us with a strong military that protects our worldwide interests. If pirates attack, we reign in with a vengeance! and let us take care of the rest. Sure maybe individual states will still opt for higher taxes and well-fare, etc. Us ca pit ali sts just won't live there. I was thinking last night, hmm maybe we should pull out of all world affairs. Then create a list of things that other countries and "people in them can't do to us" If they break our code of conduct then they face the consequences, not sanctions, or other wimpy efforts, but a full fledged showing of force. I bet that would teach people not to mess with us. My code of conduct would be simple. If you "or a person or group in your country", harm an American......You will be punished........All Americans whom are convicted of crimes overseas must be sent back to America for a fair trial If you harm an American Business...You will be punished If you harm an American Ship.....You will be punished Etc...Its that simple. We set out a clear list of what you can't do. We will be your best friend and promise not to mingle in your affairs, but break "our" rules and we will see that you will NEVER do this again.

oh, my? What has this country come to? If their report is accurate we are in trouble when people start believing that socialism is better. Marxism, Bolsheviks, Socialists, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Chavez---- and now Obamamites. Nothing good has ever come out of this system....NOTHING. It is a failed model of economics as it doesn't work because of the principle of human drive and spirit vs. greed and power. Those with the authority will never seek out a fair system. It flawed. I studied Marxism in college. What it taught be was just how great a free, "free" market is. By free market one has to let the market work. Obama already destroyed that, and now.. We are going to be living in concrete flats, our occupations and life will be chosen for us. I say no more of this crap. Its scary, because is popular opinion sways more towards socialism, this administration is just going to keep taking more of our liberties away

Legal issues aside, "as the fed doesn't play by the rules anyways." I say lets have the local governments print money. In exchange for the cash we'd give them gold. So $95 worth of gold, $100 in local cash. Then when we want to cash in we get gold back. This would be a real value and it would help set back any plans for a global currency.

If I was optimistic about the market and economy, I'd like to say "great everything is bouncing back." Unfortunately I just don't see any backbone besides optimism and manipulation to justify the continued rise. I think when we hit rock bottom, everyone will know it. It will be that bad.

Ok, I worded that poorly. The policy leaned towards isolationism. The US was a reluctant participant in wars. The founding fathers even paid tribute to pirates, until they could establish a navy to defeat them. I agree that the Monroe Doctrine did change the view of policy in 1824, we shifted views from our current territory to that of the hemisphere. So maybe instead of always it should be "reverted to isolationist policy."

The Iraq war is absolutely not the same as ww1,2 I agree with you 100%. I don't think we should wait to get hit first, I just think we ought to re-evaluate or current foreign policy. Iraq and Afghanistan are currently being fought. We should up our force there and finish the job. The founding fathers would go to the side of protecting American liberty, of course. What I am trying to advocate is the US should become more reliant on other nations, such as Israel when handling foreign affairs.

I do believe giving them the book list first would help others understand your reasoning. I hope people don't decide to turn this into another "lets bash one another" website. Let's share our knowledge and resources(books) and then let others make their own conclusions. I believe that if most Americans decide to learn the facts versus listen to the rhetoric. The process of change will start. My Pledge I shall give my opinions on ideas and thoughts, stated with resources wherever possible- It is up to "you" to actually do the research and reading to determine "your own" path. I live my life with a principal of teaching the person to fish, not outright giving them a fish. Maybe I have been a little biased with my teaching (they may be more apt to catch a Walleye vs a Bluegill) the one thing is. Its their fish. This person caught it all on their own, I didn't hand them the Walleye and say "eat this, its whats good for you." Maybe sometimes they will find themselves catching a bluegill. THATS OK because they caught that bluegill and it wasn't given to them. Pat, you have good knowledge to share. Don't run away when someone accidentally throws a stray cast and catches you with a hook.

We have lost our country to greed. It is how these people have chosen to get your money, all of it. It is no different than the court system, whether your lawyer represents you as a defendant or plaintiff, the only true winners are those that play the game every day. These are your attorney, the other parties' attorney and the judge. In politics, its Republicans v Democrats. Until we the people fully understand that neither of these groups have our true interest at heart. Then nothing will ever really benefit us.

I was a political science major, I am always in the process of re-reading and reading new material . I'll see if I can put a list of books under my profile. I am new here so I haven't really spent too much (any) time on my profile. I am glad to hear your interest in reading. I try to read books from all political viewpoints and draw my own conclusions. Sometimes this means reading about something I don't like or believe in, although if they can state the facts well. I will take the knowledge gained into consideration. Right now I am going back to basics- I am currently reading these books "Hamilton,Jay, Madison, THE FEDERALIST" , "Thomas Paine, COMMON SENSE" , "Emerson, Ralph Waldo, SELECTED WRITINGS", "Vitale, Joe, HYPNOTIC WRITING". I was just at borders and they had an American Literature book Volume A on clearance for 3.99, in it there is all of the most important writings from Columbus to 1820. This would be a good place to start. Thanks
