What if the election of Senators went back to the way it was originally intended, as elected by the State legislature not the people? This would provide the duality of the legislative body that was originally set in place to provide a calming of the emotions of the people as found in the House of Representatives. Subsequantly this would make the State elections more important as they would be responsible for a portion of our representation in Washington. And I believe any movement towards importance on local government is crucial.

A question for Mr. Koh from James Madison..."Is it not the glory of the people of America, that whilst they have paid a decent regard to the opinions of former times and other nations, they have not suffered a blind veneration for antiquity, for custom, or for names, to over-rule the suggestions of their own good sense, the knowledge of their own situation, and the lessons fo their own experience?" When did it happen that we as Americans started to care what the world thinks of us? Aren't we supposed to be showing the rest of the world (especially those leaders that would oppress) the power of the individual spirit once it is allowed to operate free of restraint? I find most answers are simple, it's finding the proper perspective that is difficult.
