Longmont Times-Call : Citizens for Finishing FasTracks demands RTD bring rail to Longmont - Longmont Times-Call

Well, now it all makes sense. Benker is helping Peck establish her party platform for the next city council election ;) Wait...for...it. LMAO. A reminder from 2009 that Benker isn't the best at lobbying anything... “A Longmont lobbying effort, including Dove chocolate squares taped onto sheets of talking points, fell short of securing federal stimulus funds for a new Diagonal Highway interchange. Before the start of Wednesday night’s Denver Regional Council of Governments meeting, Councilwoman Karen Benker distributed the chocolate-bearing fact sheets — and a letter from Mayor Roger Lange — arguing the case for a $25 million interchange at Colorado highways 119 and 52. Benker is Longmont’s representative on the DRCOG board…” It gets better. In another Times-Call story, at the same DRCOG event (reminder of previous sentence – “Benker is Longmont’s representative on the DRCOG board”): “No one stepped forward at Wednesday’s hearing to testify in support of Longmont’s application for the McIntosh Lake trail proposal.” Did this part occur prior to the other? Was she out buying a $3 bag of Doves? The result was the same whether Councilmember Benker was there (in the first case) or not (in the second case) – nothing for Longmont. Thanks for the great representation! But what did get approved? Among other things, a project for Nederland that will help them with their Frozen Dead Guy Days. Ironic that Ms. Benker should choose chocolate from a huge food conglomeration (I happen to love Doves by the way – only if dark) at around the same moment news breaks of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory closing its store at the Twin Peaks Mall (another place I love and will miss). It’s almost like dancing on the grave of your constituents who just lost their jobs. Wait, someone did that too, Congressman Jared Polis about the Rocky Mountain News shutting down. The fun never ends." http://longmontpolitics.com/tag/karen-benker/page...

Yeah, don't look at those hundreds of people who like the airport and its skydiving operation or the Governor who knows the value of GA airports like Longmonts...THEY'RE ALL STUUUUUUPID. Want me to post linksto the thousands of people who like seeing the skydivers (who train at LMO) at Broncos games? Or the stories about MHS giving back to the community? Maybe I should post about the CQS whiner who complained about MHS helping with flood recovery. I have ZERO sympathy for people who try to shut down an airport and its legally operating businesses. And it's not just about the MHS plane...I and others have seen and heard proof otherwise. Spare me. And opposition is growing every day? From where? Other small whiner groups around America? Put you all together and you may reach triple digits.

Maybe you should read the years of airport complaint logs and years of letters to the city and years of letters and emails to airport managers and airport boards (including one arrogant letter from 2011 of Ms. Wood's that the FAA in Longmont filed in the round basket)...the fallacies found there about the licensed pilots who use Longmont Airport are "lovely." It's one thing to be reasonable and it's another to be part of groups like C.A.R.E. and C.F.Q.S...who butcher the facts when they are put in front of them.
Ah, there she is...one of the airport's "Pitchfork Vigilantes" from days of no one C.A.R.E.'s past. Wonder why she wasn't a plaintiff on the CQS lawsuit? But, hey...the "Erin Brokovich" of CQS puts out the call to pad the TC line and Opinion section with anti-airport complaint letters and she rears her ugly head again. It's interesting to note that Diane Wood's artist website starts by calling herself "One of Longmont's cherished artists..." Where's the data to prove THAT?
Longmont Times-Call : Shari Malloy: Twin Peaks Charter Academy lost teaching moment - Longmont Times-Call

Were Shari Malloy's 33 years of educational experiences at Twin Peaks? Does she have firsthand knowledge of the issue? My kids went to the affected school years ago at the lower grade levels, and I have firsthand experiences with the principal and the school board president...but I don't claim to assert things that only someone firsthand (like Evan, his parents, the principal, and the school board, etc) would have the right to have a public opinion about. Again, too many cooks in this kitchen which will result in burning the kitchen down. Did you read the TC's editorial...perhaps you should. It was fair. Shari Malloy and her pushing of the Polis and LAD agenda is old. I've seen it before. I didn't come here seeking her out or the issue, but came across her name during a glance at other LTE's. And in my experience with her in city politics over the years, she has gotten her nose in issues specifically for promoting a party agenda. That's my issue with her LTE. Let Evan and his parents and the school sort this out without every Shari Malloy Dick and Harry getting their two cents in to rile things up. Did you see the interviews with Evan's parents? They don't want the attention. Have a good day...GesBooHoo.

Longmont Times-Call : John Behrens: Mile-Hi\'s flight paths mislead judge - Longmont Times-Call

What I really find laughable (and yet again, I refer back to Atty Leffert's: "If it wasn't so serious, it would be funny" said during the closing arguments)... The site visit was something the judge requested after hearing the plaintiffs present their case about the annoyance to them. And she must not have believed them, for it was day four that she surprised the courtroom with her request for a scheduled site visit order. Why is that? Why didn't CQS think to ask for that before it even went to court? Are they now having remorse that they couldn't control the site visit and instead dealt with an occurrence that day called "weather"?? And as for experts, it's also pretty amusing how the judge didn't even mention the hired aviation "expert" CQS found on an "expert" website. Anyone wonder why she never bothered to mention Matthew "I'm really a crash investigator" Robinson of Robson Forensic in her ruling? He also testified he looked at WebTrak data and did site visits to your home and that of Gibbs and Yates. Most likely because his testimony about the "noise" from MHS was irrelevant and thrown out. Just as is Mr. Behrens desperate attempt to state that MHS is "an acknowledged nuisance." To whom Mr Behrens??? There are almost 90K people in Longmont and you all could only round up SEVEN who feel the way you do for your deceptive claims? Your wife also under cross examination was asked about her filing complaints for dates that according to the flight logs of MHS, showed they weren't flying then. I'm sorry your wife feels she can't hold garden party fundraisers anymore at your home for the symphony, but did either of you ever consider your own mistatements and how they may impact MHS' own charity work in the community too? Seeing that Mr. Behrens is also a plaintiff on the case, I hope MHS' court attorney sends him a letter about defamation of character like he did Gibbs yesterday.

@Spade5...Oh, there is a threat of a libel suit. Go look at the Citizens for Quiet Skies FB page, she shared the letter sent to her by the MHS court attorney. And I couldn't be more "thrilled" that she and her group is finally being called out by an attorney for her attempts at defamation of character. And I wonder if she realizes that when you do FB edits, you can see the former. So, her also calling MHS "fascist" didn't go unnoticed.

Longmont Times-Call : Longmont residents query city\'s aviation attorney on airport noise, funding - Longmont Times-Call

City of Longmont Aviation Attorney consultant John Putnam cited FAA Compliance Manual Order 5190.6B, Chapter 13, part 13.16 with regard to answering a submitted question about airport noise complaint filings: (You can find the entire FAA document here: http://www.faa.gov/airports/resources/publication... ) but he talked specifically about this part: "Complaint data (i.e., from homeowner complaints filed with the airport) are generally not statistically valid indicators or measurements of a noise problem. Therefore, complaint data is usually not an acceptable justification for a restriction." And there it is. Yet, CQS continues to spam the complaint line (I've seen the 2015 noise complaint logs) and then complain when the airport board chairman classifies you as "statistical outliers?" Do you people not believe any facts? You don't believe a judge, you don't believe people who support the airport and point you to the facts, you don't believe the FAA, you don't believe the pilots who say they are following the laws, both required and suggested guidelines. Yet, you continue to mostly live in an airport influence zone and blame others for your woes and think the local airport is intentionally harassing you. And damned if any new pilot wants to learn to fly there either. The airport users have a right to operate there. And the law agrees. So, if CQS continues on this path and Kim Gibbs continues with her subjective opinions of airport business, I'm sure you'll be hearing from the court again...this time regarding libel. And to KM aka the CQS supporter who lives at the eastern edge of the runway and complains about airplane noise...I open record requested and saw the grossly inaccurate things you said about the Longmont Airport FB fan page. You must be new around here and don't know the history of the page and how it and its many supporters and volunteers helped raise money and local business support and sponsorships for the last airshow at "our dear airport" and not create a drain on the airport fund like you all seem intent on doing. It's insulting that you talk about how important of an economic driver it is, when you all seem intent on shutting the airport down with your crazy talk about getting the city to not accept federal grants so they could get some of your demands in place instead. FYI: The Longmont Airport FB page is a fan page not an official city page for Vance Brand Municipal Airport, and has over 1K followers who care about the airport and recognize its value. Read the fine print next time. And I (and the four other page admins) welcome anyone who is a FAN of the Longmont Airport to "like" it and help us share in what makes it so special of a place for the community. https://www.facebook.com/LongmontAirport

Nature_Girl...What the he** are you smoking there in Florida? I thought only Coloradoans were those who got high :) During the court case, it was stated that MHS is constantly making upgrades to its planes. You seriously think they would do anything because your pain in the ass daughter and her merry bunch o'whiners that cost them thousands in court wants it done? That's hilarious and delusional. Just as hilarious as CQS thinking MHS can fly north into DIA air traffic and should pay more attention to not flying over their homes and less on oh, say...weather, etc.

"52 percent of the 1,646 complaints made in the 2014 log came from one person, who board members accused of using an automated system hooked up to some kind of noise monitor." That is partially incorrect. That is 2013. CQS supporter Stephen Jennings made 1,149 noise complaints. And when contacted by airport management, he admitted to using an automated system. Check the AAB meeting minutes, it's all documented. It's also noted in the judge's ruling. Item #42: "Members of Citizens made up approximately 75% of complaints regarding Mile-Hi to the Airport in 2013. Steve Jennings filed 1,149 complaints out of the 1,582 total complaints in 2013, which the Court finds to skew the validity of the number of complaints." In 2014, CQS Supporter Justin Neway filed 850 complaints via email.

Speaking of the Moore's...I bet people weren't aware of how often they both are putting out negative statements about the airport, which would impact Longmont tourism dollars. Jeff Moore made some pretty inflammatory statements back in January and then there's this. Ingrid posting a negative user review of MHS on Trip Advisor, even though she's never been a patron of the company? Trip Advisor has since pulled it down because it violated their review guidelines...but here's a copy of it: http://ow.ly/NmT90 My favorite part is Trip Advisor's disclaimer about "subjective opinion"

The only NOISE issue now is that Kim Gibbs won't shut the hell up. Why does the Times Call continue to give this issue the time of day and create now unwarranted and negative publicity for the airport? You all read the judge's ruling. Gibbs held a interview? Was the TC the only ones who showed up for it? You gave her "witch hunt" free publicity? Because it continues to sell papers and page views? How much more does this group need to cost the city? A majority of people don't have a problem with airplane "noise" because if they did, noise complaints would come from more than just a majority of CQS members, which she won't reveal how many there actually are, but 7 people on the losing end of a lawsuit and this is still an issue worth a news article? And those letters probably are the same ones she displayed at her October 28th, 2013 meeting to "announce" the lawsuit, when she was the ONLY plaintiff on the suit. I think the city needs to say enough is enough and move forward on the airport board's recommendation to enact "avigation easements" on homes in the AIZ, because this group of people are ignoring their PLAT notes. Do those who live in the AIZ and don't have an issue with the airport realize that this relatively small group of people could impact their home title and value if they continue to say the noise from the airport is impacting the quality of their homes? Surprised more of their neighbors don't stand up and get CQS to knock it off. And this ridiculous holding of a public meeting on June 3rd (per her request?) that is being presented by a $395/hr attorney, the cost of which comes out of the airport fund and if it continues, will instead draw from the city's general fund and takes away from the taxpayers of the city? And this issue caused the city to previously spend $2,797 of taxpayer dollars for a noise study that was a direct result of CQS padding the noise complaint logs. So, yeah...people should have questions. Why isn't the city putting on its big boy pants and saying enough is enough? Enough expending of city staff time and city taxpayer dollars for an issue that only a small percentage of those living in the AIZ have an issue with. Complete and utter BULLSH*T. Gibbs' attorney has said in court that CQS doesn't want the airport shut down, but Gibbs said otherwise back in January. With her insistence to keep this going, I honestly believe she'd like nothing more than to draw the attention of the FAA and possibly impact the grant assurance money given the airport. But, guess what...if she causes that to happen, the city would have to pay the FAA back previous grant money...and guess where that would come from? You, the taxpayers.
