Well Vermont lovers...I was telling a friend about the clues, convinced it's somewhere in Minnesota, so my heart dropped when the first word that she replied to was VERMONT!!! I need it to be Minnesota so I can move my parents, 87 and 90 in with me! They would NEVER agree to move out east. Santa Fe, yes, since we own a 'oh so small' plot of land in Deming, NM where my grandmother grew up. But that was last year's dream that I totally missed. I'm still hoping blindly that it's Minnesota just for convenience sake! ha HAA

MINNESOTA NICE! Minneapolis is listed as one of the top 10 most beautiful cities. It really is! Lot's of good lookin' Swedes and Norwegians! YA, You betcha! Lake Superior! Minneapolis-city of lakes, MINNESOTA- Land of 10,000 lakes. Rattlesnakes around the MISSISSIPPI BLUFFS, cows in Dairy land. MINNESOTA State Fair crowns the Princess Kay of the Milky Way each year and sculpts a bust of her out of butter. The official drink is milk, the official fruit is Honey Crisp Apples, Cartier found the headwaters of the Mississippi that is in MINNESOTA, wild rice is the official grain, chopsticks are made from wood from the logging industry up Nort' der, ya know... Minnesota is a state with the most successful non-profit organizations in the US. It IS EAST OF Santa Fe. Nautical compass for Lake Superior or the Mississippi. One way? Steep streets in Duluth, or in Minneapolis, the GRAND TOUR around the city is ONE WAY as are the bike paths along the same route. The bike paths are all one way, with the traffic. The winters in Minnesota are less dramatic than out east. If the flower is a rhodedendrum, they are in beautiful bloom all over the city right now. Taxes are NOT crazy here...AND THE GREAEST WI NTER CARNIVAL OF ALL TIME! MINNESOTA also has granite areas. Oh, I hope, I hope!

Minnesota girl again. Minneapolis is known as the "Little Apple"... with lots and lots and LOTS of cool condos, especially the Historic Sears Building with 2 story condos and plenty of new and renovated condos throughout the city, especially along the river which runs right through downtown Minneapols...much more affordable than New York. The Twin Cities have a growing cultural scene, light rail, the coolest new Baseball Stadium, bike paths around the City of Lakes, etc..

Ok I'm a stickler for Minnesota for 2011, tho I do not know where my mind was with New Mexico. I should have entered that over and over again since my great-greats have history in New Mexico. Rats! I still say Minnesota because there are several granite quarries in MN up again around Duluth, but that leaves the snakes out. The green apples, coffee cake and blue dec say Scandinavian, and MN has a large Scandinavian population. I'm sticking with MINNESOTA, rah rah rah!

I still am rooting for Minnesota. No rattlesnake in Duluth – too cold. #8 has Timber Rattle snakes in the south east river bluffs around the St Croix and Mississippi #7 could be apple blossoms of the Honey Crisp #6 Milk is the official drink of Minnesota. #5 stamps – carmel? Carmel apples for all the apple festivals in the state #4 One way sign NOT DULUTH? TOO COLD FOR THE SNAKE? IF Minnesota, these cities in my best guess order. Stillwater, Afton, Red Wing, Hastings, Wabasha, LaCrescent. River towns. Beautiful river bluffs. #3a Jacques Cartier "discovered the mouth of the great river of North America, the Mississippi that emptys into the Atlantic, and whose extreme headwaters are in the interior of Minnesota #3b rice bowl and chopsticks-Minnesota official grain is wild rice and chopsticks (wooden) perhaps from lumber Industry #2 for a river or lake navigation like Mississippi or St Croix #1 Honeycrisp apple, morel mushrooms with honeycomb appearance That's my guess(es) and I'm sticken to them! Until the NEXT CLUE!

More Minnesota trivia - The official state seal of Minnesotta (which also appears on the state flag) "contains the French motto "l’étoile du nord," meaning "the star of the North" (the basis for Minnesota's nickname as The North Star State)." The seal displays many symbols of Minnesota: The sun on the western horizon signifies the flat plains covering much of Minnesota. "The Indian on horseback represents the Indian heritage of Minnesota The tools: the Indian’s horse and spear, the pioneer’s axe, rifle, and plow represent tools that were used for hunting and labor." The stump is a symbol of the importance of the lumber industry in MinnesotaThe Mississippi River and St. Anthony Falls are note the importance of these resources in transportation and industry. The cultivated ground and the plow symbolize the importance of agriculture in Minnesota. Trees: beyond the falls, three pine trees represent the state tree and the three great pine regions of Minnesota–St. Croix, Mississippi, and Lake Superior.

As a Minnesotan, I'll say around lake Superior, close to Duluth, hence the 1-way signs. Like SF, Duluth has steep hilly streets HONEYcrisp apples are the state frui Milk is the state drink Morel is the state mushroom with a HONEYcomb appearance and often used in chinese cooking. Perhaps the lumber industry is part of the chopstick industry. Can't figure out numbers or Cartier connection yet. Area code of Duluth is 320

That is what I came up with just looking at the picture clues. Glad I'm not the only one thinking SAN FRAN! There is a lot of bee related activity in SF, also Chinatown, and mentioned before, the one way sign. The plants in the ocean view are warm climate, not cold.
