I also agree that the very fact of her ability to rise from modest circumstances to have a wide societal impact while having a family also is aggravating to the left as her very success belies their focus on limitations and the victim mentality. A third factor is the pervasive anti-Christian bigotry so typical of the left. But I think it goes beyond that. Palin's very existence as a successful, attractive conservative woman poses the existential risk to the left that other women leaders like her will emerge and start to provide women in general with a sense that they can come out of the liberal closet and express their own views which may be Pro-Life or pro-family or nationalistic or believing in liberty - all anathema to the left. The left is so fearful of the possibility of an attractive conservative female role model that they had to conduct a pogrom against a California beauty queen - real over-kill but reflective of the fact that any successful conservative woman is a threat to the main foundation of their electoral strength, women.
