Daily Camera.com: : State Rep. K.C. Becker: I stand with Planned Parenthood - Boulder Daily Camera

Put religion and politics aside here for a minute. I've watched the unedited video, and there's just something very wrong going on over at Planned Parenthood. It just doesn't pass the smell test. I think it's worthy of an in depth investigation by the Attorney General. If it's all legal, then carry on. If PP is doing nothing wrong, then they have nothing to worry about.

Daily Camera.com: : Cliff Willmeng: A disappointing vote in Lafayette - Boulder Daily Camera

The Lafayette fire department employs 14 people. They spent an average of $128,00.00 per firefighter, on compensation and benefits last year. The department runs 2000 calls a year, split between two stations. That amounts to about 5 or 6 calls a day. Or, 2-3 calls a day per station. Firefighters work an average of ten, 24 hour shifts per month. Yep, 20 days off a month. The majority of their training is done while on duty, as are their trips to the grocery store for station meals, or eating out at restaurants, or just shopping. Oh, and they have full work out facilities at the station, so they can get in their physical training as well. All good stuff, and Lafayette has outstanding Fire and police services! But seriously, what do they need collective bargaining for? Take away the chief and other Officers, who's left? Like ten guys? Do they need higher salaries? Better work environment, MORE firefighters, are they spread too thin? For this you need a voice? Give me a break. More liberal drivel that does not translate well in this situation. Thank you Lafayette city council, for doing the right thing. And if you want to check my facts: http://co-lafayette.civicplus.com/DocumentCenter/...

Naropa should not be taxed. They provide valuable education for our up and coming leaders of society. As evidence, i submit this quote from a new grad in today's DC: "We are the Lorax in Dr. Seuss' story," he said. "Not only must we speak for the trees, ecopsychology teaches us that we are the trees."

Daily Camera.com: : LIVE: Ex-cop Sam Carter\'s sentencing in Boulder\'s Mapleton elk case - Boulder Daily Camera

Sigh. Carter was sentenced within the guidelines provided by the law, after being convicted by a jury of his peers. That's how the justice system works. As far as "the erosion of our trust in the police as a community", that's just a load of crap. I've had plenty of interaction with the Boulder Police, from being pulled over, to having them show up when I've called to report a possible crime. Guess what? All my interactions have been positive, professional, and courteous. Maybe it's because I didn't act like an entitled douche-bag when I interacted with them. The department as a whole deserves are thanks and respect. If you disagree, you go do their job.

Daily Camera.com: : Police, protesters collide again in Ferguson - Boulder Daily Camera

Why is this about race? A police officer shot and killed a suspect. There are widely varying accounts of how the shooting went down. This is almost always the case. Why not wait until the judicial system runs it's course, and let a jury decide who was right, and who was wrong? The vast majority of protests in Ferguson have been peaceful, and have taken place in daylight hours. Americans lawfully exercising their right to peaceably assemble. The problem is, Ferguson now has thugs, of all races, flocking to their city from out of state, with the sole intent of creating a riot. Defying lawful orders to disperse, and to not block roadways. These are the same people who throw bottles, light fires, and fire weapons at the police who are trying to maintain safety for the other 99 percent of Ferguson's citizens. And they deploy these illegal tactics in the cover of night, so they can avoid arrest and prosecution. The media and self-serving politicians have made this about race. It's not.

Sounds to me like he misinterpreted the statute. While he may have been trying to prevent accidents, he was still wrong. I really don't think he acted maliciously, but he does owe some folks an apology, and could benefit from some remedial training, and maybe adjust his attitude toward those he serves. I have a lot of respect for the public safety folks that protect us here in Boulder County. Yes, they make mistakes, but I would err on the side of caution before attempting to trash this guys career. My guess is he's done a lot of good for that community too.

Daily Camera.com: : Municipal offenders could be released early, transferred under deal between Boulder, sheriff - Bould

Not sure I should waste my time replying, but, I will. DUID is a "strict liability "offense. Meaning, you don't need to be read your rights, as you probably won't be asked any questions relative to your alleged offense. Your arrest was made on probable cause, like, weaving, the smell of marijuana emanating from your vehicle or person, etc.. AND your inability to adequately perform roadside sobriety tests. If you refuse roadside maneuvers, you may still be arrested based on the Officers observation of your behavior, like handing him your Costco card instead of your drivers licence. Now for the blood test. When you were issued your Colorado drivers licence, you signed a form stating you would give consent to a blood or breath test if requested to do so by law enforcement, given the information above. On that same form, you were told if you refused those tests, you would lose your driving privileges for a year. So, no warrant is required. You already singed a legal consent to the "search" when you were handed your drivers licence. In the future, please read before you sign, this way, you don't look like an ignoramus when you get arrested.
