I wear perfume every day, usually the same one for a period of months and then I'll switch it up - right now it's Byredo Rose of No Man's Land, which is both pretty and edgy but not too sweet or floral. I am digging it.

I also usually wear a pair of gold and diamond studs that are sort of a round-edged bezel setting. They were given to my mom by her ex-husband and then she gave them to me because she no longer cared to wear them and I ADORE them. Which reminds me...time to clean them. Anyone have any favorite methods for at-home jewelry cleaning?

Basically what I'm saying is yes this is garbage, but given the context not very surprising

Re: the newspaper headlines, one is the SL Trib and one is *Deseret News* soooooo

(For those who don't know, the Deseret News is basically run by the Mormons & the Salt Lake Tribune is much more like a normal largish local newspaper, i.e., liberal)

The numbing drops for that procedure do that to me too, they trigger some sort of wacky vasovagal response and I have to sit with my head between my knees for a while

Nicole I am so sorry for your loss. Eliza sounds like a very wonderful kitty and she was lucky to be so loved.

My cat is named Captain and he is an extremely handsome tuxedo. He is four years old, my boyfriend adopted him from a shelter in New Hampshire when he was six months old. He picked Captain because of how sweet he was playing with the other shelter cats. Now that boyfriend and I live together, Captain is my cat too and I love him with my whole heart. I never had cats or dogs growing up because my mom is allergic, but I always desperately wanted a cat. Captain is the greatest. He is good natured and friendly (he LOVES strangers and is very tolerant of being manhandled) and always seems to know when I am sad a need a cuddle. He is a long and lean sort of kitty and one of his favorite things to do is to stretch alllll the way out on the floor, paws fully extended while we coo "you're soooo loooong" at him.

Once Captain ate a third of a pan of congealed bacon grease that we ill-advisedly left on the stove one afternoon. I was a little worried about him but he seemed pretty damn happy and also he had bacon breath for an entire day after.

Me, I am also! My alcohol consumption on NYE went really poorly and I have decided a little hard reset might be in order. I'm actually sort of looking forward to it? We shall see if I still feel that way in a week.

The scathing quality "ma'am" varies wildly by geographic region, in my experience

I grew up in North Carolina and I love the local classical station, WCPE, which was one of my first introductions to classical music as a tiny child. (I am a classical musician/musicologist now so this is a big nostalgic thing for me.) You can find it at the aptly-named TheClassicalStation.org
