Big Government : Did Top Liberal Arts College Falsify SAT Data to Legitimize Racial Preferences?

Charles- Is there any firm evidence to indicate the hidden or artificially raised scores were minority students/Posse or otherwise? Or is this just speculation? Your hypothesis is certainly possible, but I hate headlines like yours because it raises the specte of something that might be true, but only provides possible motive, not proof. It's clear she/they were hiding the decline, but was the decline specifically the result of manipulating minority scores?

Big Journalism : WaPo Intentionally Buries Their Own Solyndra Story into Christmas Dead Zone

Not sure I can agree on this one. I get that publishing on Christmas won't get the story attention, but who are you blaming specifically? Joe Stephens and Carol D. Leonnig wrote the piece. They did their job, right? Are you accusing the managing editors of publishing this at a bad time? They could have not published at all. I'd have to know more about the track record of the people in charge before agreeing- here is an interesting article that suggests the WaPo is having managerial issues, though- http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/20/marcus-b...

Big Government : NY Times: No More #OWS Coverage for Reporter/Activist

No reason for concern Ms. Murphy? She writes "As a reporter covering the march, conducted by the Occupy Wall Street protesters, I was in position to get a close view of some events on the bridge as the arrests began" Clearly, she should have written, "As a protestor participating in the march." Don't tell me there is no concern about her.... Oh yeah, and she clearly has an anti government agenda, so why have her do hard news on anything related to govt and class. http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/10/02/cove...

Big Hollywood : Muppets and Gay Marriage: A Statist's Attempt to Indoctrinate Preschoolers

NPR (in LA at least) reported on this story and made a big deal about 3,000 people signing the petition in favor of Ernie and Bert getting married. They made no mention of the hundreds of thousands who are outraged at such a stupid suggestion. This story is news because the idea of making plutonic puppets for 4 year olds getting gay married is offensive beyond belief.

Big Journalism : MSNBC Selectively Edits Perry Remark to Smear Him as a Racist *UPDATE Here Comes Joan Walsh to Defen

I've seen a few twitter friends giving Tommy Christopher props for correcting the story after Larry O published the dishonest analysis. Yes, he corrected the story, but compare his two stories on Mediate about this and see if the analysis is balanced. "In a presidential campaign that has already seen more than its fair share of race-baiting, Gov. Perry’s remark was ill-advised, at best. If he didn’t choose those words carefully, then perhaps, going forward, he should." he writes in the first Perry piece. The correction piece does nothing to chastise or accuse Ed Schultz and MSNBC of race baiting, however. It also does nothing to apologize for saying Perry's remark was ill-advised. There was NOTHING ill-advised about it. You were the one that was ill-advised, Tommy. Man up.

Big Journalism : Ryan Clayton Owes Andrew Breitbart An Apology

While I agree with the premise of the article- that Ryan Clayton is an ass and Breitbart Derangement Syndrome is part of the Netroots cloth, I do want to make a couple of notes. After all, I was the one who actually publicized it was Gilmore to interested parties like Tony Katz and even people on the other side like Davey D. Sue Wilson- a lib, was actually quick to post it was Gilmore that was arrested. Honest progressives at netroots knew and said it was Gilmore. However, like you say, it was much more convenient to say 'Breitbart blogger' or 'alleged Breitbart blogger' for the fools like Clayton who wishcasted that he was a Breitbart associate. So rather that look into Gilmore, the partisans just found it easier to blame Bretbart and make that a rallying cry. Bottom line- Gilbert was a drunken moron and Clayton was a sober jerk. The difference, most conservatives will condemn Gilbert day and night even if his harassing wasn't all they made it out to be. However, most progressives will cheer for what Clayton did and line up for his next stupid flashmob. Credit to Ms. Wilson for reporting it was Gilmore honestly while others were saying Breitbart blogger. She even mildly condemns Claytons ambush as bad journalism. Of course she follows that up her own O'Keefe Derangement commentary http://www.suewilsonreports.com/2011/06/breitbart...

Big Government : Beck’s Out of Control Lies About His Role In The Shirley Sherrod Media Trainwreck

I am seriously disappointed in anyone hating on Stranahan on here. The guy has been a gift to this website. When Pigford testimony finally happens and bureaucrats and pols start falling, he'll be the reason why. He is a credible man who deals in facts. And the fact is, this site needs credibility to achieve the small government agenda. I appreciate a lot of what Beck has done, but in this case, facts don't lie, Beck has done wrong and he needs to apologize-- even if it is too late. Thanks, Lee.

Big Journalism : Maddow Fan Pleads Guilty to Threats Which Led to School Lockdowns

I've been following this one closely as one can from the other side of the country. In defense of Ms. Maddow- her show may not have been the spark for this act. "Court records show that just minutes before Martinez made the phone call to WFTL-850 AM, she had been reading an online article about Kaufman being named chief of staff by newly elected U.S. Rep. Allen West, R-Plantation." That article could be from MSNBC, but might not be. Fact is- Mediamatters South Florida in the form of the ReidReport and Nicole Sandler and local weeklies were all trying to pin the crazy/dangerous label on Allen West using Joyce Kaufman, who frequently hosted him on her radio show . Ms. Martinez could have gotten the impetus from any of those people... of course Ms. Maddow took her material from them as well. As far as I know, none of those liberal news sources have acknowledged their errors in blaming Kaufman for this. Example- http://blog.reidreport.com/2010/11/latest-kaufman...

Big Government : 'Introduction to Labor Studies' - My First-Hand Account

To be fair- this is the course description: "(Same as Interdisciplinary 1450)This course covers many topics important to the role of unions in the American political system and American society from a labor perspective. Topics include the role of workers in current and future times, unions' institutional structure, collective bargaining strategies and obstacles for union organizing, recent union campaigns, labor's political role, and the relationship between labor and the media." It does say 'from a labor perspective'- so a neutral class might not have been fully expected. However, I don't think most laborers I know are down with communism. Just the leaders of their organizations who exploit them for dues and political power. Still, if you're paying tuition, you should expect intelligent textbooks for the courses.
