What those of you who are showing support don't realize is that one of the victims that he called his "girlfriend" was 12!!! at the time but the police could not confirm that intercourse took place because she denied it when interviewed. I don't know if she is one of the victims in this case but I do know that it occurred!!!

This is the link to the original report from Washington County Sheriff's Department.

As far as the current investigation, I don't think we are suppose to talk about it on an open forum and we still don't have all the details ourselves but I will say that all of the witnesses, and there were many, said she had the right of way.

As a family member of the woman who died in this crash, I ask that you please be kind with your posts.

This whole situation has been very devastating for our family. The deceased was also the mother of five children, two of which are underage and were orphaned by this crash. Yesterday was the one year anniversary of her death and also the day he was arrested. It's been a very emotional time and these children need to hear words of encouragement, not words of hate directed toward either side.

Please keep in mind, that he too has a family, has parents, who have nothing to do with the situation and they too are suffering right now and will most likely read this. While I do not expect anyone to empathize with this man, please have compassion for his family and be kind with your posts.

The courts will determine what the consequence should be, let us not be his judge and jury.

Or it could mean that there was the smell of alcohol on his breath from the one drink he had at his Christmas dinner. That's why the police investigate after the fact - to determine what is fact and what is speculation. Regardless, I read your post above and I understand your frustration since you have first hand experience with this type of tragedy.

The point isn't whether or not drinking and driving is okay, but that people jump all over these types of stories without knowing the facts and post opinions that are hurtful to a family already suffering with a tragic loss and that is just plain insensitive and wrong!

While I don't condone drinking and driving under any circumstances, I agree with you and the story doesn't say "it was a factor" it said it might have been a factor yet everyone jumps on the bandwagon of condemning this man who lost his life without solid facts. These posts are beyond hurtful to the family who just lost a child. When did empathy toward the family who's experiencing a loss become such a far fetched concept? But no, everyone feels they need to share their insensitive opinions regardless of the pain it may cause!

I'm not sure if you were there before or after the cops came to direct traffic and a plow was brought through on the bridge, but when I arrived, there was a U-haul sliding down (from the West Linn side) practically side swiping cars while another car broke down smack dab in the middle of the bridge. I was amazed by how many people just got upset and tried to get around this car and did nothing to help the young gal get her car off of the bridge. Fortunately by the time I ran up to the girl whose car was broken down, there were a couple of guys walking across and I was able to get them to help push her car backward down the bridge. Shortly after, several other people got out of their cars and we were able to help other people who were stuck, either by pushing or directing traffic prior to the police coming.

On a positive note, it was reassuring to see so many strangers pull together in a frustrating situation.

I don't believe that the people who weren't traveling in it understand just how bad it was out there. I left Wilsonville at 2PM, after spending 2.5 hours at Les Schwab getting chains on, to head toward Happy Valley and traffic on I-5 and I-205 was already at a standstill. It took over 1.5 hours to get from Wilsonville to the Stafford road exit (which normally takes less than 5 minutes). The grooves in the road made it difficult even for SUV's with chains. One car did a 360 right in front of me on I-205 and it took me over 3 hours to get to Happy Valley.

Since I went to Happy Valley to pick up my daughter, I got stuck in the aftermath on the way home as well and after attempting to take back roads and watching vehicles slide down the ice covered bridge in Oregon City I was grateful to know that ODOT had been out on I-5 plowing to make for safer travel tonight and tomorrow even if it meant that I had to spend an additional 4 hours on the road to get back home this evening. As frustrating as the situation was, I support ODOT's decision to act when they did.

Yet you assume that all of those "Mexicans" in front of you at DHS are illegal immigrants. Where is the proof in your statement?

"I'm sure there was flirtation on both sides of the coin." Where you there? If she had flirted would it mean she deserved to be raped? Since when does flirtation equal consent? Is it only women who don't respect themselves who get raped? It's thought processes like this that make it "open season" on women for, as you put it, it is always somehow her fault.

I was not there and that's why I've refrained from making comments about the accused, but no-one deserves to be raped under any circumstance. I don't care is she was dancing around half naked and flirting with everyone in the room. No means NO!
