At the age of 25, I’m already fed up with the healthcare system. I can’t even go see an in-network doctor without receiving a bill. While I’m on a PPO Plan, I’m willing to see any of their doctors; specifically because I’m hoping that if any ailments are in fact found, they intern will be covered, seeing as how one of their physicians reviewed me.

Currently, I pay $160 a month for my insurance and coverage only pertains to one individual, me. It’s too expensive. It’s as if I have to choose one or the other, my rent or my health. I’m sorry, but their HMO plan is horrible. All I wanted was a physical to make sure I’m healthy. A four month waiting list you say? At the time, still during my 30 day open enrollment period, I quickly changed to a PPO Plan . I’ll go find my own doctor who can see me sooner I thought.

Recently, I went to the ER because I had really bad chest pains. I thought I was having a heart attack, or maybe a stroke from stress.

The on-call physician prescribed a medication for acid reflux, only because the recommendation came from an ER doctor vs. a normal practitioner, the great people at Aetna rejected their claims, later leaving me in pain for the remainder. We’re sorry, but this medication should never have been issued, labeled a “misdiagnosis.”

Sorry, I just can’t afford a $250 prescription on my own. It’s unfortunate when an ER doctor isn’t good enough. I still have chest pains till this day.

To Aetna,

So glad I’ve chosen you to take care of my health needs.
