Can someone for the love of everything explain ponies to me. I've tried watching several episodes midway into the season (Since I heard the first one was meh but the later ones got better), decided to just go through with it and see if I could see why ponies was amazing. And... It's not there.

I've scoured the internet and the main reasons I have found come down to these things:

1: Good animation. All right, I give it that, the animation is very fluid, the color pallete works and in general its good animation.

2: Voice acting. Hey, the voice acting in a children's show doesn't make you want to gouge your ears out. The voices work and aren't annoying, which I say is good.

3: From the creator of the Power Puff Girls. Same girl who did that, that show was popular so I can see people who are just a fan of her in general follow her shows.

Now all of those things are great, really. But... How does that make it into beyond meme status? It's gotten to the point of insanity where pretty much every website I go to, someone has an avatar of ponies or theres a post about ponies or something and it gets a bit annoying honestly. I don't want to see things pony related, and yet I have to.

Maybe I'm missing something here but I could never find a definitive answer of the obsession people seem to have about the show. Hell, I've seen someone get a tattoo of Rainbow Dash on their arm. That's quite far in my opinion.

Anyone please care to explain?

But anywho, what is the mega-popular appeal on MLP? I've searched quite a few sites and I still don't QUITE understand it. I even watched about 2-3 episodes midway into the season, never caught my eye as spectacular.

I see the reasoning behind it being liked but not to the level of ponygasm that its at. The show does have great animation, yes. Voice acting is surprisingly good for a show like this, doesn't make my ears bleed. Teaches good morals, and created by the same girl behind powerpuff girls and imaginary friends.

Those are all good things about the show. But... Still don't see why people are completely and absolutely infatuated by it. It's damn near EVERYWHERE. It's to the point where I think a large group of people are in the bandwagon because its sorta like a 'hipster' thing. But if someone truely enjoys it then let them.

So if anyone could answer as to exactly why it's mega popular, would be nice.
