Daily Camera.com: : Boulder woman sues tree company for wrongly cutting down Ponderosa pine - Boulder Daily Camera

Or course! Or course you'd be, anyone would be. It's upsetting and I don't think anyone is arguing that it isn't. I'm just surprised that it's $100K upsetting. Next time you hire a tree company and wonder why it's so expensive...they have to pay ENORMOUS insurance premiums because of lawsuits like this and quite frankly, they put their lives at risk every day. Guess who makes out on it all? Lawyers!

Tuliplover555- that is so intense! And this case will be tried in a court of law...where both sides can be presented and judged. Clearly in the court of opinion we know where you stand. Did anyone ever hear the saying there are 3 sides to the story? Defendant, Plaintiff and the truth? Do you know something we don't?

And a TREE can be replaced. Sorry, it can. The sentiment would be different but it can be replaced.

Is this principle worth $100K? Do you have an extra $100K laying around if you get sued?

No, in fact I did not. I'm trying to make the point that all the information is not available here. Maybe if it goes to trial you'll get picked for the jury and can judge with all the information. I'm just curious as to why your replies are so black and white, all or nothing type responses. You don't know anything about the woman filing or the tree company, do you? If you don't, I simply implore you to keep an open mind because in life things are not black and white. Cheers.

Shame on those who are passing judgement before having all the facts, which in fact this article does not present. And I think this women is suing for money. That's the world we live in. Think about it people: a tree worth $100,000? Maybe it's time to put the world in a little more perspective...it's a tree. There are more, more can be regrown. "There should be penalty for being stupid." Ouch...like nobody posting here has ever made a mistake? This wasn't an irreparable mistake. Nobody died. And who out there has something from a love one that has passed away? What if it was damaged or ruined? Would you sue for $100,000 over a mistake? A mistake that was made without malice? A little more compassion in this world would be lovely, wouldn't it? I'm sad for all of us- this is the world we live in. Think about, any mistake you make could bankrupt you.

Daily Camera.com: : Letters to the Editor - Oct. 26 - Boulder Daily Camera

In response to Renee St. Aubin's letter regarding "Cut trees make an ugly landscape." I agree with her that lack of trees can be unattractive but what would be helpful is if she actually had all the facts before commenting. First, last time I was on the Enchanted Mesa Trail I saw a sign that explained why the trees were being thinned. Would you rather have a thinned forest or one that was burnt down? We live in the urban-wildlife interface and it's a necessary procedure to maintain trails and landscape for future enjoyment. Yelling at employees (which she admitted doing), questioning them as to what they were doing clearly didn't get her very far. How would she feel if someone came to her place of work and yelled at her? It doesn't seem like she did much more investigation after the confrontation before commenting on the situation and forming an emotional opinion. Second, Russian Olive trees are an invasive species. It was a once recommended ornamental tree but currently the county, and many other areas in the country, are trying to eradicate the tree because it chokes out native species, damages riparian habitat and taxes water reserves. (<a href="http://www.bouldercounty.org/openspace/RussianOli..." target="_blank">http://www.bouldercounty.org/openspace/RussianOli... It is a detrimental, non-native species. If you do not believe me, I encourage you to research this before forming another emotional opinion. Trees are a wonderful part of our landscape and it can be hard to see any type cut down. But, in this case, Ms. St. Aubin should let professionals do their job since they know what they are talking about. <a href="http://www.bouldercounty.org/openspace/RussianOli..." target="_blank">http://www.bouldercounty.org/openspace/RussianOli...
