Knowing the situation of Infused Product Manufacturers (MIP) operating outside of Denver, like Keef Cola, the City of Boulder and State of Colorado are equally to blame for not providing the services necessary to keep the businesses alive. Denver requires that "Infused" manufacturing facilities are inspected for quality standards at a local or state level in order for the businesses to sell their products into the Denver market. The State and City took a ton of money from Infused Product Manufacturers (MIP) in licensing fees and taxes then refused to provide adequate inspection services. This situation shut down almost every manufacturing company in Boulder and other municipalities where there was no access to food inspection services. The majority of the lawsuits in the MMJ industry stem from poorly written rules, weak implementation and shady characters.

As one of those pictured in the paper yesterday, I could not agree more!!! My infractions were misdemeanor varieties that occurred in my early twenties. Having been born and raised in Boulder, CO this has been a very hard couple days. Their was no need to sensationalize the article with mug shots. Very poor form on the part of Erica Meltzer and Heath Urie. In addition, the editor of the Daily Camera should be ashamed of him/herself for allowing this type of unnecessary journalistic tactics to prevail.

The Colorado Department of Health will be regulating these manufacturers in conjunction with the CDOR Rules and regulations. These companies follow procedural guidelines set forth by Amendment 20, HB 10-1284, SB 109, and the soon to be passed HB 11-1043. This is a regulated industry and will thrive regardless of what "ClamBoy" thinks....

The prices for these types of edibles varies between $6-15 per edible. Kids, teens and those in their early twenties are not targeted with these products and could not afford them even if they were. Although product assay testing is written into the legislation, that part of the bill and rules will most likely not be enforced till July 1, 2011. However, the majority of edible manufacturers utilize one of a number of licensed testing facilities across the State of Colorado. These facilities utilize HPLC, MS, and GS pharmaceutical grade testing equipment. For more information google: CannLabs or Full Spectrum Labs (my favorite place to get medicine tested is CannLabs). These facilities will even test for patients and caregivers who wish to test their medicine.
