But telling a non-muslim that their fundamental right of freedom of expression should be taken away or limited because of a muslim's belief is ludicrous. And I can't see how any rational person can't understand that. No one is saying that a non-Muslim person CAN'T draw a picture of Muhammad, only that its highly disrespectful to Muslims to do so. Since the US is a free country, folks can spend their energy pissing Muslims off by drawing pics of Muhammad to their heart's content (which indicates to me said individual probably has a very unexciting life and needs to create drama). I just don't want to hear their whining about "freedom of speech" when they start getting death threats from the likes of Al Qaeda. Would you go around calling people out of their names for no reason? Probably not. So why draw a depiction of one's religious symbol if it evokes the same sort of emotions? Some religions think drinking is wrong. Fine - don't drink. But it is perfectly legal to drink (if you are of age) and if I choose to partake am I being "disrespectful" to those whose religion finds it offensive? Apples and oranges. We're not talking about what one does in their personal life.

We probably don't read many of the same blogs, cos I've seen a ton of irrelevant religious-bashing in quite a few sites, even if they did do something beneficial. Also- I never said that the topic on hand is hateful to religious people. In fact, I actually agree with your assessment. It's pretty moot to bring up the extremism of atheists in a post where people are trying to community. But I was just answering your question on why the extremism of atheists is always mentioned.

Um did you just compare organized religion to drug dealing? I hope not? O.O My point is that you don't have to like or follow religion, but it shouldn't be ridiculed or disrespected. Is it so hard not to draw an image of the Prophet Muhammad if it is disrespectful to Islam (the fight I was referencing to, btw). Apparently to some Atheists it is because it violates their "free speech". There's a difference between not believing in God and coming off like an obnoxious jackass.

I grew up Agnostic, and most of my extended family just don't care about religion enough to make an issue of it, so I really don't have the same experience with religion as other black folks have. Considering all the internal and external strife I've seen others deal with cos of religion (especially our LGBTQ and sisters), I am very grateful for my upbringing. Life is stressful enough even without the fear of going to hell.

I think it's mostly because Atheists can be just as mean-spirited and hypocritical as the fundamentalists they *claim* to be against. Now I'm as Agnostic as it gets. My mom is Agnostic and left the church as a teenager, so I never stepped foot in a church until I was 11. As an adult, I am indifferent to religion for the most part and would rather slum around on Sundays. But I've gotten into it with some Atheist people over their lack of respect for people's religion. I've also been called out of my name and yelled at for saying I'd pray for someone who was dying (whom I didn't know was an Atheist). Now I've had some pretty negative encounters with religious extremists, but not as many as I've had with radical Atheists.

True...I came across those types as well on websites and GOD I HATED THEM!!!! I had to put a disclaimer as well noting that I was only looking for single people. But from what I recalled, the research was composed of subjects who just stated an attraction to both men and women. A lot of non-monosexuals (particularly women) don't identify as bi due to the stigma, and will opt for other labels such as "queer" or will go the "no labels" route (which is what I do). And yeah...they tend to be monogamous-minded. It's unfortunate though that the loudest, most obnoxious bi folk are the married ones looking for a plaything.

In my life experiences, most of the cheaters I've known have been straight men, Funny thing is most of the (out) bi dudes are up front about their anti-monogamy, so their mates never had to worry about cheating, per se. but if I met a straight guy who really caught my interest (was my type) and didn't have a reputation as anti-monogamous, I'd date him. And I feel you on this- I am sure if I met a bi guy who met all of my qualifications, I'd go for it. But as it stands, lol...

I guess I'm that hypocrite cos I put bi guys are in my "friendship zone" . Most of the bi men I've met were either anti-monogamous or just not my type @ all...so I tend to stick with straight guys when it comes to dating. I've dated bi women before, and they were cool. I'd do it again.

I am on the fence with this piece. I don't care what ppl do with their lives. However, I find blk dudes that make lame excuses for their chronic jungle fever (ie- blk women are too fat, loud, obnoxious, nappy-haired, etc.) very annoying and wish they'd shut up and go crawl under a rock...forever. I definitely think there's an underlying element of hatred there compared to other folks who say they're not attracted to their race for whatever reason. Also- I don't think all chronic IR daters are self-haters. Depending on one's social environment, it's sometimes easier to find compatible mates of other races than one of your own. Yeah you can join a professional organization- but I can't be bothered.

people have to be comfortable in their own skin and their own place in this world, however at this time and place in history "no labels" is primarily a "label" used to mean "bisexual but because of some variety of societal pressures I won't use that word" I think in some cases, this is accurate...But in my case, it's just that the word is just really too generic and doesn't cover the variety of lifestyles and behaviors. for all the hand-wringing that goes on the definition of bisexual is pretty simple in the end: Think about all the people you have had a genuine attraction to over your life. If they are not all of the same gender/gender presentation then, Congratulations! You too are bisexual. A there in lies the problem- all one has to be is attracted to different genders in order to be bisexual. There's no real distinction between bi people who have only a physical attraction towards certain genders and those whose attractions are emotional & physical regardless of gender...And I believe there should be because the difference between these two views are quite clear. Also- there's a bit too much blurring between behavior and identity, when the two aren't always in alignment. but the plain truth is that no one hearing that someone who has adopted the such a "label" thinks that the person claiming it is a lesbian woman or a gay man or a straight person, they just think "bisexual" You're probably right, but I don't concern myself with others inner thoughts very much...Maybe for those who do care, that might be an issue...lol

I think those were lo mein noodles (cos the carton looks like something straight out of a Chinese food eatery)...I see folks eating that crap on the subway all the time. Don't get me wrong, I've had a slice of pizza on the train when I was in a rush and unable to have a decent meal. However, I wouldn't recommend eating on the subway unless you're starving to death cos the MTA trains are just...yuck!
