yep frank. i've no no problems at all and i'm also 4.26. i experimented with my old 3G and i realize they're really different phones but i'm not sure there's really anything in ios4 that's worth updating for and having to start all over again

i had the same "no apn settings" problem but i had gotten ahead of myself and just started to add cydia apps before i had taken care of the basics. i'd installed the mms tethering info first. i just uninstalled them reset all network settings and rebooted. and low and behold there was the apn section open and waiting for me. i also have a 3GS so then i just copied the mms setting (all t-mobile stuff) and now the cellular data and mms and tethering all work fine on the 3G. the mms info for t-mobile is the same as it's always been so a simple search through most of the forums have the info. if anyone is really stuck, just pm me...

still debating. is it actually worthwhile to update the 3GS? it still seems there are too many cydia apps not functional and the rumor is that there will be another software update...i guess regarding the antenna thing as early as next week. whats' it like out there. i've been very happy on 3.1.2 from the very beginning. is ios4 really worth the trouble?

actually someone else suggested that. i tried it. and it also got stuck (or at least seemed to) nearly right at the start unless i'm just not waiting long enough. but even in red snow it just seems to hang forever. how long should the process take?

since i've only ever used the pwnage tool and ultrasn0w to jailbreak and unlock and have all the original early everything including all the on-file stuff in cydia...i would think this would just be a snap. not sure why it's hanging up?

can't seem to get thru the restore in itunes. i've got a 3G on 3.1.2 with the 04.26.08 firmware and i'm continually getting stuck in the restore. it gets almost to the end and just stops. any suggestions? i have a3GS as well but i figured i'd try the 3 G first. just can't seem to get to the end of the process...

i didn't realize i could "download only" the firmware from apple in itunes because i have always used the hack that phone site (a great resource) and downloaded both pwnage and the apple software from there. someone posted the apple firmware on modmyi and as i'm downloading it, it has the word "restore" before the .ipsw. in a subsequent post it was said that the pwnage tool needed the apple firmware to not have the word restore in it and to rename it removing "restore". what's the best course here. use the firmware? rename it? or start from scratch in itunes?
