Ahoy Mates!! It has been a long time since I attempted to leave a blog entry! However, I have not forgotten how to enter the contest for the HGTV Dream Home! This Dream Home cannot be ignored! WOW!! I wish I had been around from the ground up as this home is fabulous to say the least!!! I see that Coop is still the leader of the pack with his wit and warm behavior! I miss the blog family! Hello to Ed from Oregon!!!! And, of course, Show Me!!!

Nicki Varkevisser took this photo at Blue Mountain, which is a mountain summit in Windham County in the state of Vermont!!! Blue Mountain has a comparably large tubing area as well as an abundance of terrain parks, half pipes, rails and all of the other paraphernalia that boarders love. Blue is probably a better boarding mountain than a skiing mountain. Blue is also very close to Allentown, Pennsylvania, where one can find dining, lodging, and shopping options. However, I am still guessing Vermont!!!

Is that a female skiing photo?

Strange but true: Ski jumping is the only Winter Olympic sport closed to women. Tara Geraghty-Moats wants to change that. The 16-year-old Vermonter is one of 13 members of the U.S. women's ski jumping team. She is part of a growing effort to bring gender equity to the games!!

Ask most Vermonters about women and the Winter Olympics, and they may think of state gold-medal snowboarders Kelly Clark and Hannah Teter, both of whom hope to win again. But Geraghty-Moats, a Fairlee resident, has attracted the attention of the Legislature.

Smugglers' Notch Resort is located in Vermont's northern Green Mountains about 45 minutes from Burlington, Vermont and not far from Lake Placid, N.Y. You can fly to Burlington with just a couple connections from Chattanooga. Fly from Atlanta with Delta and connect just once in New York.

Smugglers' Notch has more than 600 mountainside condominiums centered around a resort village with shopping, dining, child care and teen centers, pool and hot tubs, and other amenities. Smugglers' three mountains encompass 1,000 acres of terrain and 78 trails that include learning areas for beginners and novice, intermediate and expert terrain. Smugglers' has consistently received awards from SKI Magazine, the Vermont governor's office and other state agencies for its innovative approach to environmental stewardship.

Vermont is big mountain skiing and riding with a small-town feel. No matter where you are in Vermont, you are within about an hour’s drive of great skiing. And usually much less! Every ability level from gentle teaching slopes, to miles of wide open boulevards for intermediate cruising, to deep powder glades, challenging moguls and demanding steeps for experts is here for the taking.

Vermont is also the proud home to the first U.S. Olympic gold medal winner in Nordic skiing, Bill Koch, as well as many other Olympic medal winners including Ross Powers, Kelly Clark, Hannah Teter, Lindsey Jacobellis, Billy Kidd, Andrea Meade and others in skiing and snowboarding events.

The Green Mountain State is a haven for skiers and riders of all tastes and experience levels.

MGTOTD: Grow some herbs on your kitchen windowsill, and then learn to sprout. Sprouting means your food is fresh and healthy, and it is easy and fun.

Sprouting is the practice of soaking, draining and then rinsing seeds at regular intervals until they germinate, or sprout!!
