FunFitChicks : The Fat Burning Zone

HIIT is interval training...that's what it stands for: High-Intensity Interval Training. If you read other posts on this blog, you will see that I am a big component of weight training for women. However, this specific post was about how to get the most out of your cardio training. Although I'll leave the above comment intact, and I don't have to even say this for those of you who know me, but I never recommend or endorse any type of specific diet (ie Caveman diet), especially extreme and possibly dangerous ones as the Keto diet mentioned above.

Hey Cari- Just curious since I know other women who do the same thing...why do you do ab work during the day? What are you wanting to achieve with that?

The Abs Expert Blog : Personal Trainer Gains 90 Pounds

I don't think what he did was necessary or even helpful. Following the logic that he had to do this to empathize with his clients more would mean that oncologists should get cancer, couple therapists should go through a divorce, or addiction therapists should get addicted to a drug. Silly. Also, in the video they show him doing cable crossovers and bicep curls. No wonder the weight is coming off so slowly! If you need to lose 90 lbs, drop the isolation exercises for awhile and focus on some hardcore compound exercises. I agree it seems he did this as a publicity stunt more than anything.
That's a great way to get yourself there when you aren't feeling real motivated! Isn't it funny how the hardest part is just getting there? Even in my case when it's the next room over. : )

FunFitChicks : Lifetime Membership Contest

The more advanced you are the more it makes a difference. Your body only changes if it has a reason. So if you start working out and always use about the same weight and stop at about the same number of reps, your body adapts and has no reason to change. Beginners who have been lifting less than 6 months can lift almost anything and see change as the body hasn\\\'t adapted yet. But once you are more advanced, the body needs more of a challenge. Ever watch people at the gym who consistently come all the time and pretty much do the same thing? They are very dedicated but if you notice, they don\\\'t get very good results. The body needs to be challenged in order to stress it enough to prompt change. You should train to muscle fatigue where you stop at the point where you don\\\'t think you could get out many more than one more rep with good form. Muscle exhaustion or failure is not always safe. If you are doing chest presses without a spotter, you don\\\'t want to go to the point where you can\\\'t get the bar off you. : ) Pick weights that will fatigue your muscles in the 8-12 rep range. Work hard. Work intensely. And then get out of the gym. If you find it difficult to train this way, then start by having just 1 workout per week where you really focus in on the intensity and pushing to muscle fatigue. Start there and you can build up over time.
