The same fear kept me awake both times: What does this mean for the peace-loving people in the world?

I wrote a big long thing for Facebook about the 9/11 parallel but I decided not to post it. But truly, last night was the first time since the night of 9/11 that I couldn't sleep because of actual fear. (I know I am SOOOO lucky that genuine, bone-deep fear has been so rare in my life.)

But the feeling of being lost in time and space was exactly the same.

I don't know what this says about me, but this is the first goodbye post that made me cry real tears.

THIS: "I am actually glad that he became so popular; I hope it makes the DNC sit up and take notice that they can be more liberal than they are now and Democrats will support them."

You have perfectly encapsulated my feelings. I keep reading about "bernie bros" on this site, but the Bernie supporters I know are 1. very liberal 2. an equal mix of genders and 3. across-the-board concerned about Hillary continuing down the road of hawkish foreign policy. And that's it - they'll still happily vote for her to avoid the looming apocalypse. Not a bro in sight.

I was camping in a no-signal wilderness this weekend. Welcome back to "civilization," blueblazes.

Perhaps too obvious, but Serious Eats has the BESTEST steak marinade. I use it on everything. http://www.seriouseats.com/recipes/2013/06/grille...

Bizarre. I am in PDX after years of living in eastern WA and before that the midwest. I hear "yeah/yah?" all the time but can't remember ever hearing "hey" with the hard H as an interrogative. Yah, you betcha I'll be listening for it now!
