As long as incompetence, malfeasance and complacency is rewarded with no threat of prosecution or punitive action, this will continue. Zero Oversight has it's consequences. This is the ultimate insult to the Fallen, their Loved Ones and the Nation they fought for is oblivious to it all. No respect for the Living Veteran and none for the dead. There lies the Crime and the Disgrace and No Public Outrage for it. No Shame, just stern words, no pensions revoked or prison time and the beat goes on...

Career Politicians and Appointees have Zero Moral Imperative, they just collect their cash and could not care less. The Vet gets left behind in their dust while they preach, posture, pose and are accountable to No One. How far they are from the VA Charter they have drifted and why Congress does not exercise oversight...? Homeless Vets have no Voter Registration or Home address so they don't matter. Just another sad chapter in American History and the VA rocks on with Bonuses and Whiz Bang Record Budgets!!!! It is Not about Patriotism or Values. It is about the Racket and the Tax Payer gets soaked, the Vet gets the short end of the stick and the beat goes on...

This should clearly go to Federal Civil Courts and with the VA and DOD as Plaintiffs. As broncovet stated, the VA has proven itself to be incapable of being honest, forthright or objective. It may be time for the VA to be radically reformed due to incompetence in handling claims or appeals.

All of this Secret Squirrel business does not pass the smell test. The VA seems to be getting more slippery, slimy and impossible to navigate for Vets every day. The VA needs to reform, be held accountable and responsible but not with the current management in place. It is just a rat maze right now and does not serve the Veteran well. Shinseki is not helping and Congress is not concerned either at this point in time. This is disturbing to say the least. It's just a trail of broken promises and a great racket.

No One gets punished but the Veteran. You know it and the Veteran had trust betrayed and no one cares? Tear it Down? Yep it may be time for that. Sadly said. because a dysfunctional System rewards the wrong people and the Veteran is treated like cattle. It may be time to go there and send some Traitors home with no severance pay or pensions. Trust betrayed is deserving of that,,, I have just waited too long for overpaid idiots to enjoy a good life while I endure utility bills for shut off and eat from Food Stamps and Day old bread. I shoot game cook and eat it but if I depended on the VA I would have starved last winter. VA IG is a band of incompetents. Period. You, Sailor, Soldier, Marine or Airman are on your own. The VA failed you and your trust was misplaced.

OK then...give the VA Hall Monitors a round of applause but suspend their bonuses until they figure out how to resolve the waste, fraud abuse and the approaching 900K plus Claims Backlog and the Appeals process that is broken. Is the Fox watching the hen house and are they just more political mooks and petty bureaucrats that are feeding at the public trough as Veterans struggle, have strapped finances and their Families do what the VA won't do and do more with less. Enrollment, Claims and Appeals take Months and Years while those Pogues are fat, sassy and rewarded for a failure to observe Our Rule of "Leave No Man Behind". I am just thoroughly disgusted and wonder why they can find the time to blow their horn while Veterans wait for the System to function for them in accordance with their Charter and Congress to exercise the oversight that they are charged with. The Irresponsibility Epidemic that the Private sector would not allow must be the New Standard for them all. Shameless and arrogant about it all and non repentant. Three Cheers for the VA Hall monitors!.

Until Congress and the Senate has more Veterans with wartime service, the VA will remain complacent, mismanaged and wasteful while Veterans wait for claims to be honestly and fairly adjudicated and appeals to be resolved in a timely manner. Meanwhile under the present VA and Current Regime the Veteran and Families live with the uncertainty of being at the mercy of a System that is self serving and not focused on their Congressional mandate to Serve the Veteran first and with dignity.

Is the Office of the IG/VA a hall monitor or does it actually have enforcement power or authority to discipline? Having Congress, the Executive Branch and Judicial Branch use explicitly only the VA System for Health Care would be a marvelous idea. Imagine those fine folks going on sick call that lasts all day for a referral to a Clinic in a month or two? I could enjoy that immensely. Having to rub shoulders with the unwashed would broaden their sense of humanity and give them a dose of reality. A bit of humiliation is good for the soul. Let them take the copay route for treatment, medications and all services on top of it all unless they have qualifying Military Service. If it is truly the best health care in the Nation then they deserve the best. I can almost guarantee a multitude of changes that would benefit the Veteran Community immeasurably. Don't hold your breath!

How would the Albuquerque VA Folks feel if 37% of them had their compensation and benefits packages screwed up? What if 37% of them had to wait months to be compensated for "work" performed months/years ago? Would there be an uproar if they went without benefits for a few months or years? These "paper warriors" would not want a taste of their own medicine any more than their "Clients", the Veteran, enjoys the delays and uncertainty of waiting months or years for someone to do the job that they are being paid to perform. If the shoe was on the other foot for a few months it would be a crisis, Right? Until they get that message the current VA "Business model" will remain antiquated and the Veterans needs will not be met in a timely or just manner. You had better believe that if the VA workforce had comp and benefits issues the rules would be streamlined and the "error rate" would be diminished considerably. Or how about Congress that is falling short on their oversight duty? What if their perks, compensation and benefits were halted or delayed over errors in paperwork? And to think that all of these folks feed at the public trough and forgot who they were hired, elected or appointed to serve. I would think that the outcry would be pretty loud. Is it a new concept that when people are mobilized or deployed that there just might be casualties or injuries? I don't think so.

At this point a lack of Oversight from Congress is the ultimate reason why the VA is mismanaged and fails to do the task that Congress chartered them and funds them to do. The Vet gets short changed, the Tax Payer gets fleeced and the VA remains dysfunctional in too many ways. Put the blame on where it belongs as Congress holds both the purse strings and has the duty of oversight. The VA only does or fails to do what Congress allows. Clean up Congress and then the VA will be held to higher standards. Just throwing more money at a problem is no solution at all.

Too little and too late. No Claims resolved just throwing more money at Contractors while Claims backlogs and Appeals for other issues pile up. The Claims backlog resulted from this sort of malarkey going on while the VA misplaced both money and priorities for experiments like this. A classic definition of stupidity is repeating the same mistakes twice and expecting different results.

Any information on a Drivers License regarding PTSD is extremely discrimatory and should not be allowed. This is just another case of Government overstepping both it's moral and legal authority. What possible purpose could it serve? PTSD varies in severity of effects Another label for a Veteran to wear is neither warranted or necessary. It is illegal for anyone to discriminate on the basis of age, gender or racial or national origin. Now Veterans status is the new leprosy in Society? Service connected disability should never be a source for greater stress for the Veteran that has to struggle with the VA for care or compensation already. The Citizens of the State of Georgia should know better than to allow this.

So I am to assume that the term "innovating" is the equivalent of putting new lipstick on an old pig? It would appear so. If those that feed at the public trough are too content or complacent, then perhaps it is time to send some of them to "market". With a record Claims Backlog, record delays in adjudicating Claims and Appeals there must be a remedy. The lack of Congressional Oversight should factor into the November Elections. Replacing some complacent Members of Congress should be a fine place to start. Replacing two levels of VA management should be a goal as well. Imagine the cost savings and the motivational value of that?

A seat on the SCOTUS Bench is a Lifetime Appointment. Any reasonable question posed during a confirmation hearing is indeed warranted and relevant.. I strongly disagree with Justice Kennedy's views on Judicial Activism. A Judges feelings are not the measuring stick for anything unless he/she is ordering lunch. The Constitution is the standard and must remain so. The Ninth District Court is the prime example of "activism" as opposed to Constitutional standards. Perhaps it is time for term limits for SCOTUS appointments with Senate Re-Confirmations at 5 or 10 year intervals to assure that the "Consent of the Governed" is respected.
