I don't think our national debt is the major issue. It is an issue that could easily be remedied by tax increases and ending the war. The debt is being used to push an agenda that hurts average Americans by gutting infrastructure, education, social services, food safety, health care, environmental protection, and science. Debt is a boogeyman being used to cause us to surrender more of our country and rights to multinational corporations. Read "The Shock Doctrine" by Naomi Klein.
