Only Obama isn't a nationalist, and debating such definitions can get tedious. Just like Communism, Socialism, Fascism, etc American Leftists are carving out their own "ism" and we might as well just give it a new name. They have already done so by referring to it as "democratic socialism" with a clear definition posted on the site. If you read the mission statement of the DSA: http://www.dsausa.org/pdf/widemsoc.pdf you will notice it's fundamentally a synopsis of every attitude Obama actually acts on, as apposed to his rhetoric. Democratic Socialist are strongly tied to organized labor and it's now beyond any doubt you can see the same proclivity in Obama.
