"…i would like to see more attention paid to guys like Casey Stengel" I'd rather not pay attention to Casey Stengel because it reminds us of the teams he managed.

Tendonitis is not a DL injury. Putting him on the DL is dumb. Figuerora won't be picked up by anyone else. And really, if we lost him it's not the end of the world.

Fossum has done well in AAA. Ohman is overrated. Before last year, he sucked. There was a reason why they called him Will "Oh, man"

Matt, If the Mets wanted to keep O'Day, they'd have to keep him on the roster all year. That is going to limit their moves in the future. Letting him go allows for more changes to be made. Adding Fossum gives Jerry another lefty. If you hadn't noticed, Feliciano is up and throwing in the pen just about every game. While he may not come into a game, warming up every game is going to wear him out a bit. The only move we should be questioning today is why Jerry put in 2 righties against a righty.

High Ks do not mean someone is an impatient hitter. More often, the impatient hitters have fewer K's b/c they make contact a lot (e.g. Juan Pierre). It's been what? 8 games? It's too much of a small sample size. There's a thing called the law of averages. Wright has struck out 113-118 times the last 4 seasons. Chances are good he'll meet that total again. He's also walked 94 times the past 2 seasons. When he's hitting 260/330/400 and has 60-70 Ks at the ASB, then I'd worry. Until then, everyone needs to chill out.

“David Wright needs to cut down on the strikeouts, which is a problem that doesn’t seem to be going away.” His BA has been over 300 the last 4 seasons. His OBP has been over 380 the last 4 seasons. He's fine. "Wright is on pace to strike out more than 200 times this season, nearly twice as many times as a struck out last season." The Nationals are on pace to go 0-162, Marco Scutaro is on pace to score 231 runs, Evan Longoria is on pace to hit 135 HR and drive in 270, Chien-Ming Wang is on pace to give up at least 225 runs.

MetsBlog.com : Health: Pelfrey's Forearm, Now What?

"Closer Billy Wagner’s season-ending injury last year, for instance, was originally called forearm tightness." Forearm tightness =/= Forearm tendonitis Also, Wagner's mechanics were not good. He had extreme hyperaubduction which put great stress on his elbow. However, Pelfrey has superb mechanics which greatly reduce his risk for injury.

"Oliver Perez and Luis Castillo were also booed, while Francisco Rodriguez and Johan Santana got the biggest ovation." Castillo did not get booed as bad as Perez. At least from what I heard. You forgot to mention Santana was not present b/c his wife gave birth to their son. The crowd probably cheered loudly for that in addition to it being Santana.
